Help me mess with the party Spellcaster

I can see why. It's funny how someone who's a "rules lawyer", as you put it, misses something as obvious as this. Funny like "ha ha, where's my spiked stick?", I mean :]

heh, yeah, funny isn't it? ;) he'll argue to the end of time "well, if i knew that then i wouldn't have..." or "i would have felt that..." or "i think i would have known about that ahead of time..." or bring up this rule or that or whatever, if he thinks he'll get something out of it, but not the reverse. :)

Yeah, I'm thinking that his mistake is no mistake as well :)

As to how I'd handle him, especially since he's a 'mistake' and inherited from another game we ll, I think I'd probably be an ass about it. This character is bound to have ticked off someone in the past, either someone with power or who has access to someone with power. I'd find the nastiest critter in the various books (hey, he uses all these third-party books without, it sounds, explicit permission to do so, so sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander) specifically to take him out. It's been sent by Villian X to deal with him once and for all.

he seemed to be under the impression that since the other DM didn't catch the mistake, that he was OK with it. hmm, no. when i brought it up to the other DM, he was just as surprised by it as i was.

of course, as i predicted, the mage was killed when the kython ripped through his body. ;) however, we all agreed that when/if he is resurrected, he will have 9 levels of wizard as he should have all along, and the rest being the Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil. really, in the end, he'll be exactly the same character, just with fewer of those veil powers.

thanks, everyone, for bringing that to my attention - he is a lot more in line with the rest of the party now.
