1) Works pretty much like a bard's countersong (but goes off automatically)
2) Doesn't mess with spellcasting (not that it's usually worn by a spellcaster -- it's the folks with bad Will saves that need it the most)
3) My campaign world isn't full of folks with Energy Substitution: Sonic. (Or Energy Substitution at all!)
Given this, I think 1000gp/crystal is a good value, but I'm still trolling for opin's. Maybe kreynolds is right and it should be a little higher.
