*armor (+5 mithril chain shirt with whatever you can dump on it)- remember barbs need light armor to take adv of their speed

Oops..I missed that, Thank you, Ill give him lighter armor (which fits him better in concept anyway)...

*weapon (+5 keen, vorpal mercurial greatsword) - I personally would go Scimitar with the high crit range.

The high crit threat is good, but with the Keen enhancement, improved critical, and the scabbard of keen edges, this sword 3 times per day threatens on a 15-20 (Otherwise, its 17-20). Therefore I chose the weapon with massive critical damage.

Not to knock on your guy- but may i make a suggestion of taking a couple levels of fighter to get the weapon spec- it really helps. And don't you need weapon focus to get impr crit? Plus- the three extra feats would help you get whirlwind.

Good idea, but I dont wanna take levels just to get bonuses (or Id have a level of ranger and one or two of rogue)...Besides, that implies a level of training that he would not have gotten. And no, You dont need weapon focus for Improved Crit.

Imagine the power of an ogre with 35 Str, 10' reach, impr WWA (elh) and a vorpal scimitar. You crit on 18+. Add that to weapon Spec (+2) and brawler bonus (+3) you can lop heads like there was no tomorrow...

That would be awesome...I might work toward that as he progresses in level.

You should see some of the female characters & NPCs in my campaign.

Nooooooooooooo-hooo-hooo, I shouldn't.

Actually, if it wouldn't HIJACK (*Gasp*) too much, I'd like to find out what female could. Extra credit if this female isn't a ECL race. :D

As for the Ogre, so this thread isn't completely irrelevent... a bag of holding can look quite stylish on an ogre when it's made of an unidentifiable leather, and the party will love you. As if your strength couldn't allow you to carry more than enough already...

Oh, and potions are always good. Can't have enough potions!

Edit: Me am no writing good.

Yeah- but a vorpal weapon (i think it may be an accepted house rule) only works on a weapon's natural crit zone. So a GS would only lop off heads on 19-20., whereas a scimitar would do that on a 18-20. And you get the normal bonuses of keen, impr crit (and if you please weapon mast -2 crit range) which takes it down to a whooping 8-20 crit... now that is a monster.

But if you just want the great damage- since you have a ogre (large) you can get a larger version of a Large Mercurial Scimitar (ELH) which scales your weapon two categories, i think to a 2d8.

Plus, you can always add the normal flame burst, icy burst, shock burst, bane, and other bonuses.

Improved Crit. (Improvised Weapons)

Yeah, baby!

As far as items go, have him save a lot. Large ammounts of liqiud assets could be very usefull in Epic campaigns. He might also spend his money for those who like him despite his looks.

Also think about investing. A plot of land, royal favors, the ear of a Barbarian lord, ect.

Or better yet, a temple to Sune. We come to find he has a gift for architecture, go figure.:)

Amulet of Natural Armor or Bracers of Defense are perfect for anyone that doesn't much care for the looks or restrictions of armor. Then there's the Cloak of Resistance, as magic is very dangerous at those levels. Ring of Protection wouldn't hurt either, for reasons already mentioned.

Maybe you could create an appropriate Wonderous Item, something he'd find useful while not being too over-board. An example might be a Flask of Endless Healing, perhaps even 'dedicated' to his new-found goddess; The flask can hold up to 5 Cure type potion doses, and 'regenerates' one dose per 24 hour period. Not too powerfull yet quite handy to have around. I could even see this item's discovery being woven into the character's background, between the time he went from PC to NPC and back again. If I found something like this, especialy at lower levels, I'd be pretty tempted to switch religions ;)

And, lastly, if you don't think anything is appropriate you can buy stuff that he'd never use but kept because he couldn't figure out what to do with it. If that's not his style then there's always going with the afore-mentioned notion, put rather bluntly, of saying he blew the whole wad on booze 'n broads, amonst other things of course. It'd fit with his not being too bright, he doesn't plan too far ahead, living for the moment.
