Help Me To Create Simple, Basic Rules

DMdan

First Post
Hi,
I want to create the most simple d&d rules for combat, character generation and miscelaneous stuff so that anyone in my area can play. You can help me by:
**linking me to resources for the simplest d&d or related rpg rules on the net
**helping me to create rules that are simple and quick to learn for d&d or
**sharing simple rules that you use for your games
Thank You,
Dan

Hiya.

I'm interested in toning down D&D myself, partly because a friend of mine was asking about it (he says 3rd Ed is way too complex compared with AD&D 2nd Ed). I'm glad to see people are thinking about the complexity of D&D, because I think there's a perception of simplicity where little exists.

Anyways, I googled for "simple d20" and found this:

I'm reading it now; it looks like it might be useful to you.

It's funny how 3E started off simplifying the game and has morphed into a "monster" of sorts. People say too many options is never a bad thing; I disagree. ;)

Agreed. The potential for abuse grows exponentially proportionally with the growth of the available "crunch."

I looked at Jim Hargrove's website (the fellow that wrote Simple 20), and ran across a "free RPGs" category. There seems to be a fantasy-themed game that claims to fit DMdan's needs almost exactly:

Here's Jim's website. He seems to be a rather hoopy frood:
