Help me with a pirate campaign?

a high-lvl being trapped in his abode would probably become bored rather easily, so...

perhaps he wants art, and not just crappy mortal art but something like an "everchanging painting" or a "dancing statue" or some such...

creature comforts would become important too.. super soft pillows or chairs...a magical window that provides an everchanging view, great munchies...i mean, what would you want if you were trapped alone for a long time in a dwelling? sex? good music(imagine capturing a high-lvl bard)? art?

Everchanging book featuring all the major WoT, Dragonlance, Star Wars, and Harry Potter novels. Note: I said major, on two of those, it makes a big difference.

A group of powerful characters certainly put a lot of those partioners out on the planes during their early adventures. Got any favorite NPCs you want to revisit. Maybe someone was orchachrating the whole campaign and dead men do have some tales to tell.

If you've gone beyond the whole pirate thing and want a planes adventure...

The Githyanki can't hide on the Prime Material plane forever. He wants to make his demi plane to study his magic the rest of his day and hid from the lich Queen.
Send the party after a Demi Plane Seed. They can be used to make your own personal demi plane like that one presitage class in the Manuel of the Planes. You can make it as long and as difficult as you want. They can hope from plane to plane getting components for it. The Githyanki could pay the party very well for this. Others may looking for the same thing.

One of the things I'd be tempted to do is to give them a ship that they can use to travel between the planes.

It would require work for the conversion (assuming you can find it), but look for Chaosium's Rogue Mistress mini-campaign for Stormbringer. It includes piratey plane-hopping.
