Set up: 4 1'st level evil PC characters have been assembled before a Wearer or Purple. He seeks to bring them under his wing and eventually bring them into the fold of the Cult of the Dragon... the evil PC's are unaware that this guy is a member of the Cult of the Dragon.
Does this sound like a good pitch to the PC's?

I'm so glad you could be here today. Undoubtedly you may be wondering why I've gathered you before me and what is in store for you. Seperate paths you believe you may tread but know that you all are unified in a destiny all fortold by our master.
As you may have witnessed, those who go it alone in Baldurs Gate are easy prey for them who would hunt those of you with your... tendencies and talents. Only by aligning yourselves with those in power will you survive. Like juicy ripe fruit perched upon the vine, It was only a matter of time before someone came and picked you, squeezed you for all that you had to offer then tossed you to the ground to rot in the sun. But It is your fortune that it was I who have plucked you and will continue to nurture you should you heed my words unfailingly. Under my wing, you will grow and gain wealth and power beyond your feeble imaginagings and it will be I who will show you the way. With me lies glory and greatness, how could you turn your back on such things?
Baldurs Gate is too powerful a testing grounds for those of your rank. Instead I am sending somplace where you will be of use to me. Beregost. It is there that I wish for you to begin your journey. Even the greatest Dragon is hatched from an egg... consider Beregost to be your nest. I want for you to make it our own.
It is simple, succede and be rewarded... with wisdom, knowledge, power and wealth. Should you fail... you will likely not survive your folly. I am not a tyrant... I am an enlightened being following the words set forth by my master. Maybe someday you too will become an enlightened being such as myself, but for now follow the path I set before you. Follow it well and surely someday the truth will come before you... and you will embrace it.

I think I am going to "borrow" some parts of it for my own campaign, if that okay? If I were one of your players, I would probably describe this person as: calm, smart, and slightly manipulating. I don't find him particulary evil or anything like that and he seems to be quite neutral IMO. I wouldn't call it "soft", but neither does he seem to be a tough or ruthless guy. It doesn't seem like this guy would force the PCs to do anything against their will. But perhaps that's the picture/illusion you want to build up for this character?
