help my fighter become clairvoyant

I have a fighter 9/barbarian 1. he's a spiked chain specialist, and just got the whirlwind attack feat. A few sessions ago, in the prison of a foolish king, he threatened his captors that, if he and his companion were not released, demon hordes would swarm out of the feral lands to destroy them. So next thing ya know, demon hordes are attacking. This is something the DM had planned for the session, and he was not pleased at my character dubbing himself "the seer of Plentalin."

I've been thinking for a while of taking a level of cleric, due to an earlier holy vision, but I'd like to become as clairvoyant as possible. maybe this is where we drum up a prestige class or something, but I'd rather it be simpler. So, divination specialist, cleric, or something else?

We don't use any books other than the core and the forgotten realms stuff, but that's cause we don't own them. If you describe something you think would fit, we could make our own version of it.

Nah, I think he enjoyed it as much as any of us, but didn't think it was right that a fighter of average intelligence should do that and NOT be smacked down by fate. My character is a very arrogant guy, so he's been declaring himself the Seer of Plentalin ever since.

Psychic from GR's Master Class series. Skill based, so dump all your psychic's skill points into the precog skill (rather impressive at 6+Int per level). Roll of a 15 during a surprise round means you're not suprised, and this application doesn't cause sub. damage. Said skill has MANY other applications! Also opens the door for other skills (combat sense, enhanced senses, psychometry, etc.). The catch is that you take subdual damage whe you use a power, and being a Barb means planning their use ahead of your rage. Also gives an average BaB and d6 Hit die.

The precog power also makes a good plot device/DM revenge.

DM: "You take a point of subdual damage."
Player: "WHAT!?... oh crap, it's another 'vision' isn't it?..."

There's also the Wild Talent feature in said book. Take the Wild talent (precog) feat. Precog is now a cross-class skill for you (your DM may allow you to concider it a class skill). Keep your Barb bonuses and have another skill option.

Said powers, being skills, are also subject to skill buffs (Skill Focus, all the mental buff spells, etc.).

Precog is based on Wis, so it should go well with the Barb who's decent at Survival.

what a great character moment! I would love it if that happened... I mean, your character probably really does believe that the gods were listening, and that he really did see the future!

I suppose you could multi-class, but clearly, the gods like you as you are!

just a thought.
