Hey Songofwolf welcome to the boards. A lot of my students set up campaigns like this all the time and they seem to enjoy them quite a bit.

I think you will find a lot of us old fogies generally try to avoid innerparty strife, but it sounds like everybody in your group is up for it.

My only concern is the game sounds like a very competitive situation. A young guy who almost always gets the drop on other players is going to react badly when the tables are turned. Trust me, no matter how cool he usually is, he's going to blow a gasket. He may even stop being your friend. I just want you and your boyfriend to be cognizant of this (and likely in my opinion) possible scenario.

First off, shame for your DM/boyfriend for allowing such a blatently evil character into his campaign,

Excuse me?

What's wrong with evil pcs?

Maybe they aren't your speed- but I've run, and played in, many a successful campaign with evil party members, and even occasionally full on evil parties. It doesn't have to end badly at all- it's actually pretty easy to get an evil group to work out and have a lot of fun together.

...and then shame on him a second time for allowing in-party rivalry and backstabbing to occur. Tell him not to complain when his campaign ends up in the toilet, and everyone hates each other in real life because everyone got screwed over. Tell him that he has no one to blame but himself.

Except perhaps the people who get that worked up over a game?

Really- some groups really enjoy infighting, backstabbing and intraparty conflict. Just because some people don't doesn't mean that the others are playing wrong.

Now, granted, this smells of troll, but I don't think anyone should discourage a group from having fun. I've been in games where half the fun was killing each other off.
