Wendigo Spawn
============

"Wendigo spawn" is an acquired template that may be added to any humanoid with less than 17 Hit Dice.

Size/Type: Size increases by one category, and the creature's type changes to monstrous humanoid.
Hit Dice: Change hit dice to d8, unless the base creature’s is higher because of class levels.
Speed: As base creature.
AC: The base creature gains +3 natural armor.
Attacks: The base creature gains a 2 claws and a bite attack,m unless it already has them. In addition, the creature can still use any attacks it had pre-infection, such as weapons.
Damage: Determine damage for the claw and bite attacks acording to the chart below.
Size - Claw - Bite
----- ----- -----
M - - - 1d6 - - 1d8
L - - - 1d8 - - 2d6
Special Qualities: Fast healing 3, damage reduction 10/fire, cold resistance 5, heart of ice
Saves: As base creature.
Abilities: Str +4, Dex +4, Con +4, Int 4, Wis +2, Cha +2.
Skills: As base creature.
Feats: A wendigo spawn has all the feats of the base creature, as well as Winter’s Child (Savage Species).
Climate/Terrain: Any cold or temperate land.
Organization: Solitary or cult (2-5).
Challenge Rating: +2
Treasure: Standard
Alignment: Usually CE
Advancement: By character class

Heart of Ice (Ex): One of the great weaknesses of wendigo is their icy heart. Any blow to the heart with a flaming weapon causes the wendigo to make a Fortitude save (DC 10+dmg inflicted) or be killed.

The less than 17 HD thing I added since the spawn can advance by level, and I set 17 as the threshold for ascendance to the full wind spirit form.

Need to know more about the template before being able to help. For example, what creaturetypes can recive the template? (I'm guessing Humanoids only?)

Later,

Humanoids, correct. I was leaning towards monstrous humanoids, as well, but then I remembered that included whack stuff like medusas. So no. Just humanoids.

In that case, some suggestions:

Size and Type: Base Creature grows one size category (gaining bonuses and penalties for the size change) and becomes a monstrous humanoid.
AC: natural armor improves by +3 as the flesh hardens, this is in addition to the potential AC change for the size increase.
Attacks: Base creature gains two claw attacks and a bite attack.
Damage: Damage is dependant on the base creatures new size as follows:

Size - Claw - Bite

M - - 1d6 - - 1d8
L - - 1d8 - - 2d6

Special Attacks: ???
Special Qualities: ??? (should include damage reduction and fast healing)
Abilities: Str +4, Dex +4, Con +4, Wis +2, Cha +2, Int becomes 4, this is in addition to the changes due to the size increase.

Well, you get the general idea ;)

I'd say CR would be +2, maybe?
Looks nice, but do they get any nifty wendigo-ish abilities? Like wind walking, icy claws, etc?

Demiurge out.

Edited again. As to the other powers Demiurge mentioned, I'll have to debate that. I was planning on having them gain those powers upon transformation to the full wendigo, but maybe I could give spawn weaker versions.

Considering the cold stuff, I'd give it cold resistance 5, also helps with surviving the harsher weathers. (wait, unless DR 10/fire takes that into account, damn these new 3.5 rules)
