D&D 3E/3.5 Help Starting 3.5 Characters at Level 9 for Tomb of Horrors

Hi, I'm running Tomb of Horrors 3.5 for my gaming group and I was wondering if there are rules for starting them at level 9? Specifically, how do they handle gear and money and magical items? In 4e there are nice little rules for handling this sort of thing, but I can't find anything like that for 3.5. If there aren't any official rules for this, how do you recommend handling it?

Just assume average character wealth for 9th level characters, it's in the DMG. Scale up encounters to match the setting, as well as the new efficiency of what is supposed to be able to clear their threat.

Ah, OK, thanks, guys.

EDIT: Just in case anyone else reads this thread, it's actually page 145.

EDIT2: Scratch that. Very embarrasingly, I've had the wrong DMG for months! It would be nice if WOTC actually printed the editions on their rulebooks!

From my recollection of reading the adventure, it's pretty standalone for what challenge it gives you, and no matter what item you could buy with the GP you get as a 9th Lvl PC (even if you do away with the 25% rule)...you're still going to face a lot of trouble. There are still wondrous items which could break certain moments, but the adventure is built around the idea of the PCs being thoughtful and smart more than what their gear can get them out of.

well you could update the pregenerated characters that come with the original plus the rules in the DMG pg 199

It's very embarrassing and hard to believe, but I've had the wrong DMG for months! So my page "correction" should be ignored. When I first got into 3.5 I simply purchased a worn copy from my local game shop and they told me it was the right one. And it turns out it was the 3rd edition copy! Why can't WOTC be bothered to print the editions on the covers of their rulebooks??

The books usually say somewhere in the first few pages "this book is compatible with so-and-so edition books...,"and so forth.
