True, if the number of energy-draining attacks, death effects, and negative energy effects was reduced from 12 all the way to 1. But again, I don't really see the breaking of the dungeon, even if every PC was prepped as such.you can get cheaper versions of that item with a wee bit of math.
I've yet to touch any D&D system other than 3.5, so while I'm hesitant, I look forward to giving it a shot at some point. Could be fun, despite the obvious death before us.Yeah they diluted it in 3E for 9th level.
When I played it in 1979 it was for 10-14th level characters, of which we had 6 and only 2 survived. One of those 2 had Scarab of Protection and, yes, the ability to ignore energy drain (which had no save) and death effects did prove quite useful.
