Help thinking up a cool curse for my PC

Check out the haunted feat in Ravenloft and the dark minstrel prc in Librum Equitis I or the Enchiridion of mystical music for tragedy bards as a class.

Ooh. Could you summarize these please?

I don't know if it works for the character, but here's my idea:

The character no longer has to eat or drink. He gains nourishment from death and death alone. Specifically violent death. Only hitch is that, if he himself causes the death, he gains no nourishment. Therefore, he must either follow the wars and battles that rage in every good fantasy realm or manipulate othrs into killing each other so that he can live. The upside is that he is temporally immortal (i.e. doesn't die of old age). Perhaps he has to "feed" once a month or once a week (once a day is just too mean). Personally, I always thought this was a very agonizing curse, particularly ifthe character has an enlarged sense of compassion.

-Anyone- he kills comes back as undead. Not immediatly, but they always come back, as long as the curse is on him. The more powerful the person, the more powerful the undead they come back as.

He can't bathe.

Yeah, but eventually even the monsters won't want to be near him and then what does he do?

He's a bard. Isn't that punishment enough!

If you are a real glutton for punishment you could make him an elf.

Even though he'll be a bard at first level, the tragedy and curse would have already happened and he'll basically be adventuring as a ranger, which is why his next level will be ranger. I just want him to have a life and a past that is totally divergent of his adventuring career, and will be jacking up his Perform (instrument) skill as his one tie to his past that he never lets go of.

He plays music to help keep himself sane and not totally detached from his artistic/creative/emotional side, and to remind himself of the man he once was. But he'll be a warrior through and through.

And he'll be human.

i you are talkingabout class curses, do a monk/barb.

start off lawful monk and turn to barbarian. you cant gain anymore monk levels, and being lawful, you cant rage.

Think of the Ancient Mariner--cursed to wander the land, he must tell his tale...constantly. Whomever he picks, is compelled to listen. Once the tale it told, he does not have to tell it again until the next day. Could put a real crimp in his adventuring, and it really is a bardic curse--once word gets out about his curse, think anyone would want to hear this bard perform?

On a similar tack, there is a curse in the Alvin Maker series of Orson Scott Card. I can't remember which historical figure it is (Tippecanoe, maybe?), but he must wander from village to town, telling the tell of his massacre of the Indians. I believe his hands are constantly covered in blood as a sign of his sin. As everyone runs him out of town, he just heads for the next settlement, ready to tell the tale again.
