Help! Urgent science question I need answered!

I suppose your party mage could get cute with some manner of Reverse Gravity item that projects its field at an adjustable angle; that would solve both the "get the thing off the ground" and the "move it forward" problem, plus lead to some interesting oscillations. Also, when it came time to use the spike, the field could be adjusted to hurl the spike at the Genus Loci in question.
Not to be TOO much of a noodge...but he just said it was 10'x2'...we don't know its depth or if it is hollow- factors that affect mass because they affect the actual volume of metal.
"Lugging" - do you mean carrying or dragging? Do you have anything with wheels? Can you drag it over logs (like ancient builders did with huge stone blocks)? Does anyone have a Grease, Reduce, or Shrink Item spell?

This is, after all, an EPIC party. Betcha they can carry it, if not with ease, without tons of trouble.
Still, this is a cool example of the kinds of challenges that a dm should throw at an epic party without worrying too much about how they'll solve it- that challenge is up to them. The dm just needs to be ready to adjudicate the results of their technique.
(Frankly, though, there's a pc in my epic game who could lug this thing around without too much trouble- very high str, very easily Huge size.)

boolean.. thanks for pointing out the size/body shape effects on encumbrance!
That makes it easier to find something that could lug it around.. MavrickWeirdo's suggestion of an elephant was good.
I made my calculations on being able to carry it as a heavy load, not just dragging it.
To be able to drag it, you need 27 str if medium biped.. if assuming we have a large quadruped (a horse), it needs a str of 17 to be able to drag it on the ground if favorable conditions (factor x2).. A heavy horse have 16 str. Two of them should do fine... if slow.
I cant find anything on the loading ability of a vehicle, like a cart/wagon - how much can you load on it, and how many/strong horses do you need to pull it? The PHB only lists how fast you can travel per day with a wagon..
Dannyalcatraz had some good suggestions also, on spells making it easier.. I can add one more suggestion, albit for short time spans.. the psionic power skate has a secundary benefit - you can manifest it on an object, reducing its weight 10x for dragging it along on the ground.
I guess there are some epic/near-epic PC's with these strength levels.. I can imagine a metamorphosed, expanded (huge), psywarrior myself..
