Help w/ DTRPG!

First Post
Hey guys/gals!

Sorry if this is a bit OT, but I figured if anyone had the same problems I am having, they would likely be lurking here ;)

I decided to give DTRPG a try (my greed to get Necromancer's modules at 1/2 off overcame my loyalty to traditional PDFs :) ).

I followed all the instructions for upgrading my Adobe (now at 6.0.2), but when I have tried to download Morrick Mansion, I get the following error:

"An error occured while receiving this document: None of the requested vouchers could be obtained.
Adobe DRM client error: 422
Please install a newer version of Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader before downloading this document.
Server code: 406

406 Not acceptible
(42) Your eBook reader does not accept the content type you are attempting to download (application/x-ebx-pdf-RC4-128)

Then it lists the URL for my download link"

I don't get how I can get a newer version of Adobe, when the version I have is dated 5/18/2004. I emailed DTRPG, however, I don't expect an immediate response so I was hoping that someone here could help.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Jeff

Thank you for providing a picture-perfect example of why DRM is a bad idea and why I continue to boycott the DTRPG-related companies.

But to answer your question, I believe you have to turn on the Adobe DRM from inside the client somewhere. :(

No module is worth losing your dignity.

Sucks for you. Malhavoc and Necromancer are very good companies, and you can still get the normal .pdfs from White Wolf's site.

1. In Acrobat 6, go to Tools > eBook Web Services > Abobe DRM Activator (that's how the Mac version is--probably about the same for Windows version).

I suspect that's your problem.

I know my DRM is activated - I went through that whole process. But thanks for the help nonetheless.

If you are using a dial up accelerator that may be your problem. Try turning it off and downloading again.

If that doesn't work then you will have to uninstall Acrobat and then reinstall Acrobat. Reactivate your DRM and then try downloading all with the accelerator software off. But I would wait for a reply before I attempted this.

Do you have an earlier version of Acrobat installed as well. I had the full edition of Acrobat 5 installed and when I installed the reader for 6, IE kept Acrobat 5 associated for PDF's (for some stupid reason) while everything else seemed to use 6. That ment any online pdf I opened, opened in 5. Until I uninstalled 5.

EDIT: Whoops I forgot to add. "It's your own fault for buying from DTRPG." :)

Mr. Mayhem, not everybody can use the latest version of Acrobat Reader. Older computer and all that. Which means we can't use DRMed product. And please don't tell us to upgrade our equipment, it aint that cheap.

DRM is insulting because it tells people like me we're not worth selling to. So long as DTR insists on using DRM and overcharging their clients they shan't get a dime from me.
