Help w/ DTRPG!

Watch a simple request for help turn into some people's political platform. Joy.

In any case, check to see if you've got an earlier version of Adobe installed, as previously suggested. Also, the program itself *can* become corrupt, so if all else fails, try an uninstall and fresh reinstall.

As an aside, to avoid another lame flamewar erupting from the people who just can't contain their hate for DRM, you might want to PM the folks that're being helpful. I'm pretty sure they'll continue to be so.

I would suggest uninstalling ALL versions of adobe acrobat reader you might have installed and re-installing. If this doesn't work, contact DTRPG and ask for assistance. DTRPG or Adobe customer service should to a lot better helping you than posting here. Questions here usually result in a rash of posts about why people hate DRM. I am sure someone on these boards could help you, but with the vast number of posts on the board, etc. the chance of them seeing it might be slim. I think a direct question to one of the 2 companies involved would be more valuable.

If you are using a dial up accelerator that may be your problem. Try turning it off and downloading again.

If that doesn't work then you will have to uninstall Acrobat and then reinstall Acrobat. Reactivate your DRM and then try downloading all with the accelerator software off. But I would wait for a reply before I attempted this.

Thank you so much for this suggestion, I turned off my accelerator and it worked perfectly.

Thanks also to everyone else who tried to help!

Mr. Mayhem, not everybody can use the latest version of Acrobat Reader. Older computer and all that. Which means we can't use DRMed product. And please don't tell us to upgrade our equipment, it aint that cheap.

Yes. That is why I pointed out that the normal .pdfs were still available for at least some groups, and that I didn't think it made sense to boycott the companies associated with DTRPG.
Also, I had thought the Acrobat readers were available for free download. Is this not so?

Glad you got the problem worked out, and that others were so helpful.

Hey Patrick, thanks for popping in. I wasn't sure if you posted here. I'm about to run two of your modules, Morrick Mansion and Hall of the Rainbow Mage. They will flow together in an "investigate weird things at local wizards' houses." I have print copies of both and picked up the PDF of Morrick because I am running them in an online campaign.

While I would rather not have the DRM, I can work with it as long as I plan ahead. Any idea when a PDF of Rainbow Mage might be available?

Ladies and Gents, this isn't a thread about the good or evils of DTRPG. Let's keep that conversation to a minimum, please.

I'm curious why you posted here instead of asking DTRPG's customer service for help?

He did contact them. He's also asking here in the meantime while waiting for a reply from them.

As for the acceleration thing, I'm not surprised that it's the culprit in all this, since it plays various tricks to make you think that you have a faster connection while on dialup. One or more of those tricks had to have been interfering with Acrobat Reader, resulting in the problem.
