Help with a 8th level wizard for new game.

Ok, the concept I had, I showed it to a friend and he liked it so I gave it to him, so I am in search of something new, here is my problem, I LOVE the red wizard, but I REFUSE to play a human and my DM wont come to an agreement, so I am SOL there. I think the incantrix is an "interesting" to say the least class, so I think I may try that, but I am not sure if I rather play a mix of different PrC's, if I do go with the Incantrix I will go the standard Wiz5/Inc10/Acm5 I would be going with this set-up

Sun Elf

Str- 9
Dex- 17
Con- 13(-2 Racial)
Int- 22(+2 Racial, +2 level bonuses)
Wiz- 12
Cha- 13

and the feats:
1: Spellcasting Prodigy
3: Iron Will
5: Empower Spell (From here out I am confused I have no Idea what to take :-/)

Oh, and here is the group ill be in:

Human Mage Killer
Human Priest of Mystra
Human Sorceror
Dwarven Barbarian
Human Fighter
(and 1 that I dont know about yet, hoping he plays a thief)

I am sure my character will fit in that party, so any help is apreciated, and if anyone can give me a convincing argument for why I am playing a non-human Red wizard, PLEASE tell me, thanks in advance.

Also take a look at Shadow Adept, its a fun variant wizard, more subtle than the usual fireballing Red Wizard. I would talk to the sorc and make sure you both fit in the party well, spells-wise. Item creation feats are pretty popular, and faerun has a lot of good counterspell feats.
