Help with a big battle ahead in my RP.

First Post
Hello, new here.
I don't know if it's allowed to post this type of topic in here or if it is the right forum, but I need help.

My friends and I are playing a free-style RP, and we're going to a big battle now. the DM allowed me to get feedback from a forum before the next game.

The game is set in a fantasy world, so no machines or anything (besides gnomish inventions, but thats, well...) named Verus. We started the game on earth and got to Verus somehow. When we got there, we discovered that each of us got a "gift" from the world - more on that later.
There is a war going on now - the entire world against a group led by a human named Vladgar - the Thief. Vladgar's leading millions of undead - from mere skeletons to dead dragons. In addition, he is accompanied by 2 people - Uriel, a human that can make things explode (we don't know for sure, but it seems that way. Also, that was his ability before he got a power-boost) and Sauron, a demi-god (son of Time) that can control time. And by that, I mean that he can freeze you in place and kill you.

Our side is a bit more limited. We have pretty much everyone who can fight and the last 10 dragons. Their job is to hold their ground while we try to slay Vladgar, or at least seal him.
The party that will be sent to fight Vladgar, Uriel and Sauron will consist of 5 people and a dog - all from our world.

I'll explain about the "gifts" that we got and our ablilities:
I got the power to control minerals. The best one I work with is earth, and I can bend and break steel - not fully control it. In addition, I'm also a master sharp-shooter (with guns that utilize my powers - I basically push the bullets out of the gun, and can almost reach the speed of a 9mm). I've made special bullets containing potions in them - burning, freezing, electrocution, toxic, penetrating. I'm also a Golden Dragon Monk - I can shoot dragon fire from my Dragon Gauntlet 10 times per day, but I become unconscious when I shoot the 10th shot, and get really worn out by the 5th.
Also, I'm not that good with Lava.

Dayan has the power to control mass - he can basically transform anything to anything, but it takes him some time. He moves the electrons and protons around to change the substance. Right now, he is limited to solid objects, but in his peak (we got a sneak peek) he can create living things.
He is also a were-wolf and an expert dwarven-styled fighter wielding an axe. In addition to his axe, he has a fork that got transfered with him to Verus, and he can work with it with ease as compared to other things.

David's power is complicated - we're not really sure what it is, but it seems that he can control shadows, but only if there's a light source (so he can't use his power it total darkness). He's also an excellent acrobat and a ninja, we don't know his real speed yet. His weapons are throwing knives and a splitting katana (a whole katana that splints to 2 separate ones).
He recently got a hold of the power of the Joker - the legendary assassin. He now has the fighting experience of a thousand before him, their knowledge, and they'll help him evade attacks by making him move (they're all aware of his entire surrounding). 1 special ability that he has is to enter the shadow realm through shadows. As the Joker, he's the king of the realm, and can command the creatures of the realm.
Also, we recently found out that if he materializes a shadow and cuts it, the thing that the shadow belonged to is also cut at the same spot, but it's extremely difficult to cut the shadows.

Now to the NPC's in the party:

Lemmy's power is to control water in any form - gas, liquid or solid. He's also an expert archer.

Lee's a master of combat (Any type, it seems), and is the Knight, the one that leads the army. He'll leave the army to fight while we go to Vladgar. His gift is total resistance to poisons (so no poisoning him, and he can't get drunk).

Suki is Lemmy's dog. She's quite big and strong now, and can change shapes to anything. She's a happy dog that likes everything.

Vladgar's gift is a big problem - he can't die. Besides that, he's not a magician or anything, but he has his sword - Chi. The sword is forged from a piece that he stole from Death's scythe, and his sword lets him command legions of undead. Another special ability of his sword is that it has 10 eyes. It takes him 10 minutes to open all the eyes, but once their all open, the person that all of the eyes focus on dies instantly, and his soul is apparently devoured by the sword. If it's a big soul (That's what we were told. I guess a soul of a strong creature or a powerful mage/fighter?) the sword shuts its eyes and rests, but otherwise it can continue to kill and devour until it's full.

We have found a way to seal his sword - 5 rings and 5 necklaces, each representing a type of a dragon (They each contain the souls of all the slain dragons of the same type). To seal it, we must all touch the sword while wearing the artifacts, or 1 has to touch it and the others will channel their energy to him (Suki's a part of Lemmy, so she doesn't have to touch it. I'm not really sure if we'll bring her along.). When the sword's sealed he won't be able to control the armies or kill us with the sword's sight, but he still can't die. Of course, he can break the seal by killing one of us.

The battle will take place in 2 days. We will spend the first day training in the shadow realm, in a place where times flows slower. That means we have 3 months to train and come up with a battle plan. In the shadow realm we progress slower, so it's about a month and a half worth of training.
I'm probably going to focus on big time earth magic, but Dayan's the problem - how can we utilize his power in battle?
One idea is him charging his weapon with static electricity, but it takes him about 20 minutes to charge it so it could kill a well built creature.
Another idea is nuclear fusion, but thats kind of destructive. Too destructive. He'll kill us and himself by doing that, and we don't feel like dying.

Now, the one I find most problematic is Sauron, with him being able to control time and all. We thought of dragging him to the shadow realm, but it is too under his jurisdiction.
I should also note that we can't resist his power with sheer willpower, as he controls time for an area, not a person. There is a non-existent chance that his power won't work on us, since we're not from this world, but it probably will.
Also, there is no item that can allow us to resist his power - the only thing that can resist his power is godly power, which we don't have (The gifts are from the world, not the gods.)

So, 3 months of training while the army tries to hold it's ground against walking mountains (Hello there best earth magician in Verus. We killed his doppleganger apparently). You guys are my strategic meeting before we head to the shadow realm.

Help will be appreciated.

Sauron is the first bugger you'd want to kill or at least shut up. Get Dayan or you to create a blinding light in front of Sauron, not only blinding him, but also allowing for some time to get David to slice off the head on Sauron's newly formed giant shadow (you'd want to be as far away as possible, I take it that his time-stop only affects an area around him).

Uriel seems trickier. HOW does he make things explode? Anyway, you'd want to be VERY close to him, grappling or something. If he makes you explode, he'll blow himself up along with it, and he knows it (I hope). For the rest, you'll want to make sure you'll draw first blood on him, and it should be very brutal. You basically want to see him lying around in parts before he'll blow you up to the point of not being capable of getting up again (assuming it's not instant-kill explosions).

Vladgar honestly seems easy, you 'bend' an armour of rock or metal around you, the others channel their energy, and you'll just let the sword touch YOU. It's going to hurt, but he'll loose his swords most devastating weapon. You could also just break the sword to smithereens of course ;) You can break metal right? 10 minutes is 100 rounds in D&D, should allow for plenty of time. After he'd lost his sword, you could simply go with the most easy solution, even though he can't die, he can still get hurt. Just chop of several body parts, put them into containers, seal those into another container, seal that container away again, and let the leaders of the army VERY securely bury them, and build a fort around them. Plenty of time for you guys to find a way to KEEP the sucker dead. Keep one or two of your henchmen as guards, and preferably submerge the entire tomb. You DM sounds like a serious guy, so he'll definitely try to free Vladgar.

Divide about 4 blasts of your dragonfire as needed between the three, but I'd suggest the first two.

Breaking metal means you can break weapons and armour.
Augmenting mass means Dayan can make weapons and armour extra heavy, making them unwieldable.
Co-operating with Dayan to make bullets of a very powerful nerve-toxin should be useful as well :P

Thanks for the reply.

For Sauron, we're not sure how his power works. The only flaw I can see with your plan is that he could freeze time while David tries to behead his shadow.
And it may only affect the area around him, but he did something that I forgot to mention:
There were cases of several disappearing villages. Apparently, he moved the villages 1 second forward in time, and since time is linear in Verus, they were never "there". The biggest village that disappeared was actually a big city - a couple of hours to get from one side to the other, so his range seems pretty big.
Also, it doesn't seem like he walks - he gets from point A to point B, but the ones who saw him didn't see how he got there.

Now, for Uriel, the plan seems solid. He's only a problem because he's with Sauron and Vladgar. Lemmy has some fighting experience with him, so we could probably handle him.

Vladgar probably knows about our plan to seal his sword (it took a 100 years for the artifacts to "ripe", and he has dopplegangers as spies - and dopplegangers become PERFECT copies, sometime they're convinced that they're the person they became), so I doubt he'd attack us directly with it.
I can't do anything to his sword, as it's made from Death's scythe (To clarify, Death is the god of death :P), a godly item. Can't do :):):):) with it.
We're not playing traditional D&D, so we may not have that much time.

Also, they don't wear armor - only robes. Also, Dayan's power have a rather long "casting time", so he's pretty limited in battle.
He did almost destroy the economy, though. :p

We're thinking that we should divide them first. We'll probably go take Uriel to the shadow realm first, after I hopefully paralyze Sauron with the nerve toxin.

It honestly seems to me as though your DM wants you dead =_=

So basically, Mr. Sauron has a huge range, AND can simply 'wipe' things out of time and thus existence?
This honestly sounds like a BIG problem indeed. So, how can you beat a being capable of beating time? By killing it in ONE fast blow, before he can react. And I do think your bullets may be best for that. Even if he can beat time, his brain cannot. If you kill him before he can THINK, you've got him. But that's easier said than done. I think Sauron may be a bit unbeatable when your DM gets creative. As soon as he can think (about a quarter of a second) he basically has won with the conditions your DM set for him. HOW? Don't ask me. Becoming invisible and casting an antimagic field (if such a thing exists) would be the only hope (assuming his time manipulation is magical).

Vladgar's sword simply doesn't work when it cannot see it's target.
Also, Dopplegangers copy what something looks like, trying to break their swords seems a sure way to identify them as real or not, should be easy within 10 minutes, or he must have a LOT of dopplegangers. If he won't use the sword on you, good, that means he'll use his instant-die weapon instead. That also means, that once you identified him, you'll simply encase him and his sword, if you can manipulate rock, just disarm him without looking. And then dismember him, crush the sword, if possible, and follow the previous plan. Vladgar cannot die, no problem, he seems to get most of his other power from his silly little godly item.

All 3 of them actually lean heavily on visuals. Sauron can freeze everything, but if he can't find what he can freeze, he's useless.
Uriel can only explode stuff effectively he can see, or when he knows where it is, or randomly explode stuff.

Good luck! I'm out of ideas :P

Blind Sauron, which should keep him from acting for a moment, and use your earth control to bury him while he's unable to stop time.

As for Dayan: he's got time to do some preparation, so:

turn some metal wire into nigh-impossibly efficient magnets; turn his fork into a railgun; turn a small vial into an airtight, impossibly thin bottle with the wires coiled around the inside, then evacuate everything but one speck from the inside, forming a vacuum; use the magnets to levitate the speck and hold it in place inside the bottle; turn the speck of dust into antimatter, creating a magnetic bottle to keep the antimatter from premature detonation. Dayan then uses his railgun fork to hurtle the bottle with the antimatter at the bad guys; the bottle breaks on contact, the antimatter meets matter, and things blow up real good. The explosion ought to take care of a nice chunk of the army, and Sauron, and Uriel.

You may want to do that after you blind & bury Sauron, so that he doesn't have time to figure out what's going on & step through time.

Meridius, we got a spoiler from Death that Dayan's going to die soon, so... :p
Anyway, Sauron doesn't have to see anything to freeze time. He can just freeze the entire area, barring Vladgar and Uriel.
And I found out (Well, I was told, more like) what's Uriel's power. He doesn't make things explode, but he burns things if he thinks about it.
His power comes from the TWIN SUNS that exist inside a pocket dimension in his head. >_>
If he gets angry and someone tries to punch him, his hand melts.
And no anti-magic field for godly powers. :(

Coyote, I don't believe that burying him will help, really.
Also, Dayan can't control anti-matter, sadly.

Here's an important question: how much do the bad guys know about your side, and what you guys can do?

Unless Dayan is ready to go out in a blaze of fusion-powered glory, I'd say you're screwed. If Sauron can stop time with a thought, nerve toxins aren't going to help much. They won't kill him instantly, and won't stop him from thinking; ergo, whoever poisons him ceases to exist a second later. You have to kill him dead, in one shot. I think his medulla oblongata's got to go. :)

You could find out if he has some kind of weakness or kryptonite, and use it -- if he has one. Unfortunately, unless you've got an oracle handy, or Death wants to share more hints, you probably don't have the time.

So how fast can Dayan fuse molecules of hydrogen into helium and create a thermonuclear reaction?

Really, I think Vladgar seems to be the least of your worries. His sword has to see you, and your side can control water (mist), shadows, and earth; drop a shadowy mist on him and swallow him. You can dig him out at your leisure. You've got at least two badass physical combatants, so if you can get it down to him and them, and his sword's eyes are closed, he won't live for the ten minutes it'll take the sword to open its eyes.

Hmm. What's the range on Lemmy's water-control powers? Is "control water in any form" literally true? If so, human bodies have a lot of water in 'em . . . if all that water were to turn into steam spontaneously, or even just move a few feet to the left, it would be hard on a person, or a time-stopping demigod.

Maybe we could paralyze his brain. We don't know if the nerve toxin will work on him, though. =/
And Death's answer to most questions is "Destiny knows". We hate Destiny.

I should note that in addition to Lee being resistant to poisons, he also ages slower, gets tired slower and heals faster.

...Aaaand Dayan apparently can't actually make a nuclear fusion right now. Yay.

Lemmy's range is about a kilometer, and he can control the water in a human body only when there's a full moon. And that happens in two weeks.
My range is 500m.

Edit: Good thing I let my DM read this topic. >_>
Apparently, he FORGOT to mention that each of the ten eyes have different special ability (that we don't know, and maybe more then 1), so it's more of a problem then we thought.
I also forgot to mention that he may be able to teleport. Either him or Sauron. It's more likely that Sauron just stops time though.

Heya, I'm the Evil DM of this Free Style game.
and no, I'm not Trying to kill them. well, not all of them.
I am glad that he chose consulting you guys, this big fight made him get into this, get ready. its nice seeing my players do some work out of sessions.

Anyhow, I thought I'l share some info with you guys that he forgot\missed\did not understood.

first of all, Sauron. Apparently the big scary wolf here. I would like to point some details on him.
1. he is not a wizard or something like that. he is literally the son of Time. Time as in the god of time.
2. he was banished from the realm of the gods (the Center Tree, the Giant tree that holds Verus) theoretically for being a bastard (and I don't mean he was a really unpleasant guy.)
3. he wears a white cloak with his hood in a way that you can never see his face. David god one glimpse of it once, when Vladgar came to him asking for him to join his army, he say his eyes are covered with white bandages.) also, his cloak has pictures of clocks on it and they move all the time.
4. he is the only henchman of Vladgar that was loyal to him before he started this war, 500 years ago.
5. he never speaks.
6. Faust, Ignis's master, the last golden dragon and the head of the 10 saints, one of the wisest creatures alive raised the question: "why does one as powerful as Sauron obey Vladgar so blindly?"

now, lets move on to Uriel.
Uriel is more of a normal guy here. I'l skip the long details of the way they first met him, but last time he fought Lemmy, he could not control his power at all and it was fueled by sheer rage (Lemmy also as a spacial talent of annoyance.)
he basically Vaporised anything that was in a 100 meter radius from him and almost killed Lemmy.
it is also a fact that since he joined forces with Vladgar, he power grew tremendously.
Fausts theory about Uriel's power say that if his head is shattered, the pocket dimension in his head is gonna open and release the twin suns and all they'r power into this world.
thats all that is known about his power, the rest of the info is his past and I will post it if you guys find it relevant.

Vladgar.
1. he is constantly surrounded by an Aura of blindin fear. one that made one of the most powerful and brave man in Verus (the Previous Thief and one of David's masters, next to Lee) fall to his knees, tremble and even vomit just from being in the same room with him.
2. each and Every eye of his sword has a separate ability , aside from the instant kill thing. 11 Abilitys in all.
3. he can boost any ability 100 fold
4. he can raise the dead and command them.
5. seems to be a master of strategy and manipulation that rivel even Faust.
6. he claims Verus belongs to him.
7. last time he single handedly took down all dragons alive, minus the 10 saints.

the rest:
when they went to visit Death in his realm, Dayan, David and Omri took a sneak peek at they'r peak of power. they discoverd that the water at this place hanance the Gifts they got and took some.
they have some left, not much. but Dayan has about 30 cigarettes he made with the water that holds some of its power.
the water do not bring them to the peak, but it does enhance theyr gifts.
also, Omri can only bend metal under the effect of the water.
David can barley materialize the shadows unless he drinks.

also:
Lee is master of Chinese martial arts, mainly drunken fist and all styles of kongfu.
David can use the powers of the Joker only when he summon his mask, the crown of the king of the shadow realm. right now he can keep it on for no longer then 35 Seconds, not counting the time he spends in the shadow realm itself.
he also found a Diary, written by one of the leader of the dragon riders from the last war against Vladgar. I actually wrot the Book by hand, 80 pages. and It contains some random info from the last war. aparently there is some type of code there for him to crack. he did not tell anyone of the book, including Omri and Dayan.
David also got a special Dual Katana as his Joker weapon. the weapon had some sort of hidden ability, but he dont know about it.

now, for the next 2 days I will open a line of communication for you with the Universe of Story (our game)
here is a list of Characters that are Available to the Players to consult with:
Faust, the Golden Dragon, Omris master, head of the 10 saints.
Jack, the Black Dragon, One of the 10 Saints.
Elizabeth, the Silver Dragon, one of the 10 Saints, Faust's wife.
Bator, the Red Dargon, one of the 10 saints.
Iroh, The Blue Dragon, one of the 10 saints, Lemmy's friend.
Atma, the green dragon, one of the 10 saints.
Uruk, the Bronze Dragon, of the 10 saints.
Beggin, the Copper Dragon, one of the 10 saints.
Art, the Brass Dargon, one of the 10 saints.
Siro, the white dragon, one of the 10 saints.

Jessica, best Magical blacksmith in all of Verus, Friends with Omri, Dayan and David.
Lee, The knight, head of the resistance army, former head of the Elf's army, David's old master.
Franceua, David's old Student, now head of the Elf's Army.
Rufus, right hand to the king of the elfs, the group tends to hate him and this is mutual, they also suspect him for being a spy.
Ben-Gurion, King of the Dwarves.
That weird old guy in the Camp's tavern, A weird, drunk, old guy in the tavern of the camp.

have fun guys, Omri and lemmy sure are.

Yarr.
Hopefully, this'll help.

A hint about Sauron is the fact that he wears bandages. When we arrived in the Central Tree (Henceforth named the Axis Tree) we met with Time. He was a baby-grandpa-grandma-lady-man (all at once) and we couldn't see his face.
I'd like to ask the Saints about demi-gods.
Maybe there's something with his face. Will something happen if we see them? Did they ever see a demi-god?

I'd like to know about Uriel's past.

Also, I'd like to know how Vladgar acted in the previous war, and what were the plans at the time.
