Help with a Character Idea

First Post
I want to make a Fighter/Wizard. We're playing in FR, and I'm looking towards the Eldritch Knight PRC.
Human, 28 point-buy. I like the idea of using Arcane Strike from the Complete Warrior, and seeing that the bonus provided by that feat lasts all round and applies to all attacks, so two-weapon fighting is the way to go. I was also looking at using the Militia feat from the Players Guide to Faerun. What do you think of this build?
Str 10
Dex 15
Con 12
Int 16
Wis 10
Cha 10
Human Bonus Feat: Militia
Lvl 1 feat ???
Lvl 3 feat 2-weapon Fighting
lvl 6 feat Arcane Strike
I want to have a full-fledged spellcaster, but I also want him to have fun in melee combat too. I don't plan on taking any levels of fighter, I'm not looking so much at min/maxing as I am at having a fun character to play. The big question is how can I increase this character's chances of surviving?

Well - if your looking to use alot of your spells for fueling arcane strike - then you might wanna take Sorc. You will haev more spells to fuel your Feat. And you wont have to worry bout X'ing out a spell you might find you Need later in the sesson.

Also - Why take Militia Feat? If wanting to take lvls in Fighter just take it at first lvl you dont have to spend that feat, and you gain another feat. SO you gain 2 feats for 1 lvl of Fighter < Kinda :) >

As for 2 weapon All the way - Arcane strike looks like Might be interesting Feat - But remember that you wont be able to cast spells if you have a weapon is both hands - Sword/Light Shield or 2H Weapon comlements Spell casting better, This not an Issue if gonna use all your spells to fuel your Feat, But if you want to use Spells in combat - might be difficult.

-- Edit --

Also as pure caster you wont be able to take arcane strike till 8th lvl since you need +4 BAB. Taking one lvl in fighter will allow you to take Arcane Strike at 7th Lvl Instead. Do you loose One lvl of spell casting, Gain martial weapon Profs, All armor Use, And 1 bonuse Feat and 10Hps.

Also - You cant take Eldrich Knight unless you have Proficency in All Martial Weapons - SO you kinda have to take a lvl in one melee Anyway :)

Just one thing, Arcane Strike only works with one weapon, or unarmed strike, so no TWF.

Fighter/Wizards are tricky because they share no similar ability scores, feat focus, equipment choices, or tactical decisions. If you set on playing a spellcaster/warrior, I’d go Pal3/SorcX, which at least gets you the Cha synergy, and Divine Might, as well as Arcane Strike. And mounted combat and True Strike rock on toast.

But to make a Fighter/Wizard work, you need to focus on not getting hurt badly in combat, and try to dart in and out of melee with touch spells that might otherwise be tricky to deliver.

For feats you should consider Expertise, Dodge, Mobility, and Spring Attack, as well as Arcane Strike. Power Attack is a must for any melee fighter.

Good spells, in no order are Mage Armor, Shield, True Strike, Bear’s Endurance, Cat’s Grace, Bull’s Strength, Color Spray, Mirror Image, Protection from Evil, Blur, Displacement, Haste, Expeditious Retreat, Shocking Grasp, Vampiric Touch, Keen Edge, Greater Magic Weapon, Heroism, Greater Heroism, Greater Invisibility, Bestow Curse, Repulsion, Eye Bite, Cone of Cold, and Tenser Transformation.

Tactically, try and stay out of the melee and trade Arcane Strikes from your blade with whatever short range spells you have. Buff your self up before combat, and try and use True Strike +Power Attack to the fullest.

FR millitia feat in 3.5 (from PG-FR) does just that - gives you WP in all martial weapons.
I would still consider taking a fighter level, too, saves the millitia feat, gives you another feat pick and some much needed HP - besides proficiencies in all shields and armours.
as for armour - try for Mithril chain shirt (rather low chance of spell failure ) and buckler or light shield.
As for feats - "2-Weapon fighting" stacks nicely with "2-Weapon Defence" or "Imp Shield Bash", followed up by "Shield Charge" (CW). Still, with your lowish Str, you will be pretty much hampered as a fighter , especially with the -2 penalty from 2-weapon combat.
I would honestly rather go for a pole arm or other reach weapon - in combination with "Combat Reflexes" and "Hold the Line" (CW) (which your Dex 15 compliments nicely ). But all in all, that character looks like he will have a glass jaw, with lowish AC and not very capable of hiting much of anything due to low strength.

Well, your choice

Agreeing here. If you wanna go sorcerer, the militia feat is worthwhile cause you're already one level behind in getting higher level spells.

Edit: Get mediocre str and con, lower Dex.
