Help with Gnomish Pirates

Fire and holes below the waterline are good ways to sink a ship.

Note that ships can be sold for good money. A cargo on the bottom of the ocean only serves the mermen. And nobody wants to try to transfer cargo from a ship that's burning or sinking. The pirates ought to want to preserve the ship if at all possible.

Thanks guys for all the help... At some other point in their journey they'll be fighting scrags. Scrags are easy, they close, grapple, pull people off the boat and pin them to the bottom until they stop squirming. :]

Mostly though this post is a way to bump the thread without just posting "bump"

Make sure to give your gnomish pirates the right feats to help them fight bigger foes, ie. swarfighting.
I'd also give them poisoned weapons, and long range weapons.
As has been pointed out, in melee, the gnomes just aren't going to dish out the damage needed to drop bigger foes unless you properly trick them out.

I would have gnomish Pirates use trickery to make the ship wreck itself. Using illusions to disguise reefs. Disrupt the day to day activities with illusions and stuff. Aproach with a submerged ship (there's a spell for that in the spell compendium), then secretly enter. Use enchantments and trickery to turn the crew on each others throat. Once the ship lost it's mobility, half the crew slaughtered each other and the other half is either mad or starved the ship is ripe for picking.

Of course that's if you want really evil pirates. If you want it to be more funny have the gnomes do basicallly the same, but more with an eye to pracktical jokes, so in the end the crew is left flabbergasted and embarrased, but unharmed. The gold is gone in both cases of course.

Haven't. What were the high points?

Going on memory here and it's been awhile since I last watched it.

The Air Pirates, led by Don Karnage (roll the 'r'), were based off the Iron Vulture, a hugemongous flying aircraft carrier tho they might've had some island base. Often they'd prey on lone planes or whatever but they acquired a Lightning Gun which they would destroy the cliff guns that protected Cape Suzette (the pilot movie).

For the most part, they were the standard incompetent villains, mainly for comedy relief at least against a superior pilot such as Baloo. Their planes were really compact and had multiple stacked wings IIRC. I suppose it'd be terrifying to have these planes swarm around you, shooting you a lot, perforating you. Don Karnage was someone I'd seriously consider basing a villain off of as he was somewhat cultured (sang "I Am A Pirate!" in the pilot movie) with a not too good grasp of English (Prussian or some other East European I think) tho the rest of his crew were also European-ish, at least Swedish Meatball was. Basically ham up some bad psuedo European accents and you'd get the Air Pirates down.

Its one of those series I'd wish Disney would release on DVD by seasons, along with Darkwing Duck and Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!
