Unless I'm missing something, if you are wearing light armor and have a DEX or INT of 30 you get a +10 bonus to AC. If you are helpless (say K.O.ed) you still get that +10 bonus.
I understand the simplification argument, but dude, it seems really odd that being quick matters so much when you are unable to move or be aware of anything.
