Pathfinder 1E Hercules the legendary journeys as a pathfinder campaign?

If any of you remember this cheesy show, then you know what I'm talking about. If you don't know what it is, Xena warrior princess was the spinoff.
In either case, am I the only one who thinks these would make an okayish campaign? Sure its cheesy but it has a lot of elements that could work in a campaign in my eyes, maybe in between campaigns?

In a lot of ways, yeah! Wandering around, getting drawn into adventures, totally D&D. A little bit of comedy, a little bit of action, all sorts of plot, fun NPCs, reoccurring villains, varied environments, totally what I envision D&D to be.

One thing about that show that wouldn't fit D&D is Hercules never quite "leveled up". At season 5, fighting a bunch of mooks was just as exciting at in season 1, where as in D&D, being jumped by road bandits isn't going to last more than 2 rounds for a level 10 party.

another thing that might not fit is spellcasters. The versatility of a Wizard, Druid or Cleric would accomplish things Hercules with his fists, wit and super-bouncy-object-throwing-accuracy never could. You'd have to design a low magic campaign to keep that feel.

But yeah, it could happen with the right sort of DMing a players who wanted that feel.

Yeah, you could definitely run this. It's actually a pretty good fit for a light-hearted Pathfinder game.

As RUMBLETiGER mentioned, spellcasters in D&D/Pathfinder don't necessarily match up with that sort of world. I'd tend towards not allowing full casters or keeping the levels low (either with short campaigns or something like E6).

If I were planning on making a long campaign out of it, I'd probably go for E6 with the Mythic rules, but that's a pet project of mine.

Cheers!

Well you see rumbletiger, you mentioned some problems that I've actually considered. Spellcasters would be tricky but I think I've got it figured out. I believe magic exists in the show, but it not common. Wizards (pc's) would be treated the same, things of awe to the people. Clerics and oracles are already in the show if I repipisoecall, so that shouldn't be a problem. Druids would be the trickiest, but I think such things have showed up a few times, at leaston Xena. I just watched an episode on Netflix where mystics worshiped three brothers referred to as the green gods. I was thinking making that the druid nitch, followers of such and maybe pan and the huntress godess (sorry Ive forgotten her name.).

For more of a Sword & Sorcery/Conan flavored game with low magic built for d20, is the Xoth setting. I purchased the setting guides and a few adventures for it, but have yet to actually use the content - still trying to get my players to give it a try for a short campaign. While I am definitely interested in playing in such a setting (at least once), I would be far less interested in presenting a tongue and cheek humor like the Legendary Journeys of Hercules. I am all for doing the Hercules saga, but would probably stick closer to Greek Myth than a television show I couldn't stand. I did plan on converting this to Pathfinder, if I do finally get to play. If I allowed unaltered PF spellcasting, I would probably limit casters to alchemist, oracle, bard, paladin, inquisitor maybe magus and generally avoid most full caster classes. Though as the Xoth setting suggests, magic should be capped at 3rd level spells. I don't think you'd need to E6 everything, just the spellcasting as straight martial characters should have no problem competing in such a setting, as is.

You know, this is all starting to sound interesting.
I'm still trying to get the hang of Pathfinder's rule system, would you guys be willing to play a game on roll20.net? I could use the experience.

I came up with this idea several years ago after a marathon of Hercules and Xena. I liked the idea of heroes exploring the ancient world without it being to serious. I bought a d20 book called Olympus. It did not have the exact feel I was looking for especially with the gods so I never ran the game. Though I know I am looking at the Hero system as way to run the game I envisioned. But this book might suit what you want to do.
