Heroes - 10-30-06 - Better Halves

Nikki- I'm now convinced that she's not only not too bright, but really stupid. Mirror Nikki had two million stashed away and let Normal Nikki borrow 30 grand from a loan shark? And why fram DL? He may have walked away from the job, but there's no reason to think that he wouldn't have come around when presented with a fait accompli whenever MN decided it was time to stop sitting on the money.

The thing with split personalities is you rarely know what the other is doing. She didn't know about the money.

When ikiN threw DL across the room and he slammed into the furniture, I'm surprised he didn't activate his phasing powers. Maybe he didn't have time (does he have to concentrate as hard as Hiro does to activate his powers? - it doesn't seem like it), or maybe he didn't want to take the chance of flying out of the wall of the house and onto the front lawn in front of the cops (although I can't recall which side of the house he'd be on at that point). Anyway, it just seemed kind of odd to me.

And it looks like next week Claire gets "outted" - at least to her little brother. That ought to be interesting.

That was Evil/Mirror Niki. The bodies were torn apart, like in her garage, as she mentions to DL.

[edit] Er... not to mention she admits to it to Good/Normal Niki in the scene where they talk.

Also, ikiN is from TWOP.
Ok. I didn't even consider that, so I didn't pay enough attention to them to realize they were the same people. Just another bunch of hoods, I thought. And I was even thinking that Future Hiro might have come back with a Hero Niki!

I think they missed a great visual opportunity when Nikki was sitting there talking to herself with her back to the mirror. Instead of making cuts back and forth between her talking to herself, they should have had her mirror reflection talking behind her as Dark Nikki. Would have been really cool.

They are stronger but I am getting anoyed at everyone still having seperate storylines and not bringing people together.

Yeah, I also wish the heroes will start meeting and staying together sometime soon. I was happy last week when Nathan and Hiro met... only to see them go their own way within 15 minutes. Maybe there'll finally be some long-term associations when Claire is rescued finally rescued (and I hope that happens soon). I find it annoying that the bad guys all seem to be connected to each other whereas the good guys are seemingly alone and isolated.
I dunno, I think you guys might be kidding yourselves if you think having all these guys hanging out together is going to be mroe enjoyable to watch than what we're seeing now. It would just become cumbersome. We really need to find out what all the individuals are capable of before we start sticking them in a clubhouse with a round table and monogrammed chairs.

What's so odd about it? He was stunned after getting clobbered flat-footed by the metal briefcase.

IYes, the kid has a power(s). But they haven't (as of last week's TV Guide) decided what it is yet! It'll be whatever they decide they need when the time comes.
Probably just super-smarts, or he's a technopath.

Got another interesting theory (but who doesn't, right?). What if all (or many) of the Hero's have already been taken by Claire's dad and memory wiped.

I had a similar theory, although it likely only pertains to Niki and maybe D.L--it is, after all, a little too coincidental that two superhumans hooked up like that without either of them knowing the score.

In general, most of the characters rest of the characters are just too mired down in established normalcy to have some mysterious past.

The real downfall of this show is that there's just not a lot of meat to the characters. Ali Larter's easy on the eyes, and Hiro's geekyness is mildly entertaining, and the rest of the characters are kind of a wash. This is the time when their personalities need to be cemented and fans should start getting divided by their personal favorites, but Peter, Isaak, Claire, and Mojinder are pretty bland.

Notice we didn't see any of the wimpy psychic cop's story today. I suspect he'll be among the first to die, although Nathan's an even surer bet.
