Heroes of High Favor Pack?

Crothian

First Post
I went to go pick up the halfling book and say that is was packed with the half orc and elf book for less then 20$. I decided to get them even though I have the orc and elf book. This is a great deal, and I was wondering if this was being offered all over the place or if this was just something my local store did? The guy who sold me it was actually suprised to see it and was of little help.

It's a bundle for the hobby retailers. Frankly, I am surprised to see that they left the bundle intact, as opposed to splitting it up and selling each title individually.

It is definitely not something that will be offered direct to the consumer-- this is a deal for the retailers only. Be happy that you got a great deal (as if $10 for a Heroes of High Favor book wasn't already a great deal!)!

As mentioned, this is something that Bad Axe Games distributor (Osseum) did for the retailers.

Osseum has done this with a few other of their publishers too. Green Ronin and Living Imagination also have such bundles from the Osseum.

While it is true that this is something for the retailers only to encourage them to pick up the books and break them apart, I too have left them bundled and passed the savings onto the customers.

Technically, Osseum is a fullfillment house. They sell to the distributors (e.g. Alliance) and the distributor sells to the retailer.

That's ultra cool of you.

Specifically, the bundle is: Buy Elves and Halflings, get Half-Orcs for free. Thus, I suppose the retail price (should the retailer choose to pass the savings on to the customer) is $19.90.

I don't know if everyone would think it was ultra-cool. I'm one of those "evil" internet game stores that discount, that every game store out there hates. While I am on the internet, I emulate the best game store I've ever been in (and it is a real shame it is no longer around, Frontier Games of Spring, TX), and foster the FLGS spirit with my availability and access via IMs and my D20books Yahoo Group.

I'm trying to foster a new acronym of "FIGS", Friendly Internet Game Shop.

I encourage people to deal with their FLGS if they are happy with them and if they can get their books from them. I've heard too many horror stories, however, to feel too badly about some of the game shops going under. FLGS does not describe them.

I'm not trying to attack you...

I'm just tired of people telling me how I'm killing the industry. I guess I wanted to put that point out there to let the attackers know I know their position and don't care care about their assessment. :)

If the FLGS is not doing a good job, they invite competition. Does the FLGS actually expect a monopoly on any given geographic area?

Isn't this better for the customers and the publishers? Higher sales volumes in both areas only IMPROVE the industry.

Sorry, got a slight chip on my shoulder :)
