Heroes of the Feywild: The Satyr is up!

If you've ever been in the airport in Athens, this thread's title is hilarious!

In all seriousness, though, I'm not sure I like even the idea of satyrs (and some of the others listed) as a playable race. Given their legends, it just seems kind of...jarring. Kind of like an "adult" version of Carebears dipped in the ugly business of your typical FRPG.

Seems to me like we are now getting races just for the hell of it. If they are going to put out races that are rather strange then at least make them appealing. This race really doesn't do that for me and it really screams pigeon hole for the Bard. I know some races are designed to be better at certain classes but this one is Bard all day long.

I just don't really see anything too appealing about this race.

PS: I have been in a lot of airports but that airport is one I haven't been to yet.

Satyrs would make great elation Ardents, Chaladins, and Feylocks/Feyblades.

I'm surprised at how tough they made Satyrs. +2 con flex stat, Pleasant recovery, and Light Hearted all either boost the Satyr's health and hp recovery, or make it easier to remove certain status effects.

I like the Satyr. I wish I was a Satyr.

Still Satyr's need a summon Nymphs racial power;p

Life of the Party (Satyr Racial Power)
Daily
Minor Action

Effect: The satyr snaps his fingers. One nymph per party member (max 10) appears. Each nymph also carries a setting-appropriate alcoholic beverage, suitable for sharing with one party member, and a setting-appropriate party food. Food and beverage are sufficient for one day's nourishment.
The nymphs will not participate in combat, and do not occupy any space, instead sharing the space of party members. They may occasionally cheer on good hits, or wince when a PC is hit.

Effect: The satyr gestures off to the side. Setting-appropriate music begins to play from no visible source. Other setting-appropriate party accoutrements appear. The music and accoutrements disappear after one hour.

But. . .but what would we do without another Dex/Charisma race?

This probably would have been a perfect race to make Con, Int/Cha. Dex/Charisma, which the last 4 (5 if you count the Revenant) races have had, is getting a little boring.

Game-mechanically, they seem rather 'meh'. Nothing stands out as particularly unique or special - their racial abilities all seem potentially handy, but not particularly inspiring.

What's this? A tiefling raised in the feywild with a gnome personality?

Like the idea. Just not sure I need to throw money at a designer who runs out of ideas and so rolls on his random table for new race write ups.

What's next? The Dragernus - a dragonborn with a githzerai psycho profile born on Avernus?

Or how about a tribe of deeply misunderstood wood genasi, who absolutely believe they are actually human - but can't help being compulsive liars?

Keep them coming, WotC...

The fluff is fairly close to the Satyr as the game has had them for the last 30 years.

So what king of abilities would fit the theme of a Satyr that wouldn't push them in the direction of the bard?
