Heroes Season [Volume] 2 (#24)---9/24/07-'Four Months Later'

I think Nathan is just going nuts with grief and is seeing peter in his reflection. That's why when he looks the second time its just himself. So if peter is mind-wiped and has the Haitians necklace, was it the Haitian that tackled Hiro's dad off the building top? He was part of the company and would have known the players...

I like Claire's stuff and that her soon to be boyfriend is a powered person also. Matt and Molly were good, but seeing that Mo is going undercover with HRG behind him to take down the company (while getting his research financed and done) is brilliant!

Best for last- Hiro in the past. And now we open up that huge ol can of temporal worms. So the first part of the legend is already changed. Is the timestream unfailingly corrupted now? Can it be salvaged? Would it have turned out okay if Hiro hadn't shown up? This makes the trip back into the past to deliver the message to Peter look like a walk in the park...

This is an evolutionary process. Many patterns = powers - will surface again and again.

This is aided by the fact that it is entirely possible given Claude's comments last season on the pigeons - that someone - or some group - is attempting to breed Heroes deliberately to produce a certain trait.

If so, and that's not at all clear...

Sylar is a Mule. He was unpredicted and has thrown plans greatly into disaray.

Peter is the object of the breeding program. It was that trait they were looking to develop.

I agree with the first part. Claude doesn't even seem surprised when Peter says he's an empath... in fact, he implies he's run into one before.

That's why I disagree with the breeding/Mule hypothesis.

I did a freeze-frame and it's definitely Nathan in the mirror.

3. We've NEVER seen a power repeat but that kid has flying.

Only semi-spoiler since this just hints at possibilities, but recently one of the creators or writers were interviewed...
[SBlock]They have been asked what do they do when they run out of powers. The interviewee then suggests that perhaps there are only a finite number of powers and we will see duplications of existing powers. [/Sblock]

That's what I was thinking of when I saw that scene.

Do you read the Heroes comic on the NBC website? Spoiler:
Claude's first partner was an empath.

Great episode! It answered several questions, but raised quite a few more. I'm pleasantly surprised at how many of the original (surviving) cast are there, given all the buzz about how season two was supposed to be having a new cast, with just cameos from the original. It's much better this way; keeping greater continuity with the existing characters and gradually phasing new ones in as old ones die/leave.

The quick introduction of the virus that only affects special people felt a bit abrupt, even with the material from last season (and the hints in some recent comics)...it's one thing to go from two girls that have the same illness, to suddenly having the Legacy Virus there.

Claire frustrated me with how she was told not to use her power - which is a fairly subtle one, all things considered - and then she kept drawing attention to herself. I get that she's an angsty teen and all, but given what she went through, you'd think that she'd be a bit wiser. And yeah, West being able to fly can't be everything he has...unrelated special people shouldn't have the same power (as a comic book rule). That said, he seems like he's stuck on himself, and I don't like him already.

Mr. Bennet has still got it. 'nuff said.

What happened to Nathan? How did he survive a nuclear blast? Did he give up his seat in Congress after he won the election? And I thought his thing with the scarred face in the mirror was Peter's face, not his own. The former suggests Niki's power, and the latter suggests Candice's...either way, it's odd. Still, his life seems to have collapsed in the last few months.

Peter having been gotten to by the Haitian makes sense, though I wonder how that came about. Maybe Peter, like Mr. Bennet, let it happen voluntarily?

This looks like it'll be another great season, maybe even better than the last one! I know I can't wait for next week, when we get to see Sylar (man I love him)! :D

Some interesting tidbits upon video review:

As always - this contains speculation that may well be wildly nonsense - and may well be balls on accurate in some respects too. I've got a 50/50 record on most of this stuff. Read at thy peril

Theory #1 -

The man in the trench coat who bumps into Ando in Kirby plaza as Ando is walking to Nakamura Sr. to give him the newspaper and coffee is...

Nathan Petrelli.

nathanando.jpg

Just by happenstance the picture appears in the paper Ando is carrying? No. Not an accident. Nathan put it there when he bumped into Ando.

Similarly, Nathan puts the picture of his Mom outside his apartment wall. He has blamed the older Heroes for Peter's death - and is out to settle the score. It's about revenge for Peter's death.

That is why the man who knocks Nakamura off of the Deveaux building is not splattered beneath. The Hooded Man can fly.

The Hooded Man is Nathan Petrelli

Theory #2

Kensei is an empath. Hiro has gone back in time and has altered it. Not only has Hiro messed up the past - he has also messed up the future. He has given Kensei, unwittingly, the power to travel through time.

Kensei is Kane - the Boogeyman. Much worse than Sylar. And he's also immortal.

Theory #3

Peter Petrelli had his mind erased by the Haitian. That is why he cannot remember who he is - and why the Haitian’s necklace is around his neck in the container.

Theory #4

The flying boy stalker locks onto Claire much too quickly. He's with the Company.

Theory #5

The Irish Mobster who finds Peter at the end of Ep 1 is, according to the NBC episode description, 1,000 years old. This is an ability we learn exists not because Peter now absorbs it - but because another empath in the past did too. This brings us back to Kane.

Theory #6

There was a theory that Hiro was essentially Kensei. He's not - but it appears that he is destined to masquerade in the past as Kensei to try and fix the damage he has unwittingly done.

There was a thought that Hiro was not Kensei, but the Dragon. This is somewhat in doubt now and I think the truth is that it's a bit of both. Hiro takes Kensei's love - his heart - by falling in love with the sword smith’s daughter. But Kensei absorbs Hiro's power.

It's complicated - but in the end - it's all Hiro's fault. And so it is Hiro's ongoing quest to fix and undo what he has done which will, in part, drive the season.

I have a theory on that one kid. If his power is actually flight (and not some sort of empathic power based on Claire's desire to see Pete again), it could basically be an alternate power (in the mutants and masterminds sense) kind of like how Sylar's flight/levitation might be an alternate power of his stolen telekinetic powers.

My favorite part of the show was watching Bennet grind his teeth at work being berated by the management dork. I kind of hope they pursue the subplot, having Bennet being the one who has a really rough time adjusting to the new environment while Claire finds some way to "be herself" while still keeping a low profile.
