Heros' Feast and pets.

Today, my PCs use this spell mundanely. "Immune to Fear Effects" is very useful at medium to higher leveled adventures.

Now, the party are meant to confront a Dragon within few sessions. The encounter will happen at open area. So many PCs will bring pets (Paladin Mounts, Familiars, and so on). And those pets will better immune to fear or will run away.

So I have a question. Do you think it is possible to let Paladin Mounts and Familiars eat the foods? I think yes. But wondering how much food will those creatures eat. I guess familiars will not eat much (meal for 1 person should be fine) but how about a War Horse? And how about other animal companions?

Heh. This same question actually came up in our game last weekend (druid has lots of pets).

I wouldn't have a problem with the animals joining in. Heroes' Pal!

We ended up calling the spell "Heroes' Breakfast" since we always cast it in the morning. It's definitely one of the best 6th level spells out there. Immune to fear and *poison* for 12 hours? Hell yeah.

As for horses, back in the day, they used to count for 4 people for the purposes of eating. That may be a little low, but it's close enough.

I once made a halfling paladin of yondalla prestige class that got heroes' feast as a spell like ability once a day at higher levels, and create food and water at lower levels... Ahh good times, good times.
