Hey, Last year you headed to Chicago after Gencon. If you feel like going to NYC this year, if you have the time and $$ left, i'll be more then honoured to show you around the local game shops and other sites. (Before i have to go work anyway, damn 7 day schedule.)

Though you prolly have no such plans I just wanted to toss the invite out.

I do believe his plans include a stop over in Chicago and I'll certainly let anyone from the area know if a get together of some sort is planned. :)

I've only been to Chicago a few times, and only on stopover on other trips. I don't think I ever spent more than 2 hours there at a time. All that I can really remember of the place was leaving the Amtrak station in or near downtown and going onto the nearly-deserted streets, something I found odd so close to noon. A guy came up and sold my friend a fake gold watch, and then we went back to the train station, where I promptly forgot my copy of some Michael Stackpole Battletech novel.

It wasn't the most impressive place I've ever been.

Spent less than two hours in a lot of cities, have you?

LOL. I received exactly the same impression of Paris during the two hours we spent marooned on the tarmac at Charles DeGaulle airport while we took on fuel, eyeing French fuel handlers suspiciously while carrying loaded M16s. At least I can say I saw the Eiffel Tower (albeit from a long way off through a 747 cabin window).

Ranger, you're not going to see much hanging around outside the train station. You're right, there's not much in that area, and you need to go several blocks east to reach the Loop. Some 50,000 commuters go through Union Station every day, and we don't need that much foot traffic clogging up busier areas of the city.
