Hiding Ones Alignment

Elocin

Lurker (sort of)
I need some advice on what is the cheapest way to hide an alignement of a creature. In my adventuring group I have been possessed by a demon and my new alignment is now LE. Well I have a new companion in the way of a young Pyroclastic Dragon and I will be hiding his form as he will essentially be my cohort but as we have several members in our group that can Detect Evil, I need to hide this. I do have an amulet of Non-Detection and I have the money to purchase another one, but I am hoping for some other kind of magic item or permanent spell I can use.

Can anyone out there help me. We are gaming this Wednesday and we are about to go on a very long dungeon crawl with no access to the outside world (meaning not able to replenish maigc items or potions or what not.

Thank you in advance for the help.

Knowing what class and level you are would help a lot. If you're a wizard, for instance, you could cast Nondetection yourself--or better yet, mind blank, if you're high enough level. (Every wizard able to cast that spell should always have it up anyway so it wouldn't be suspicious).

If you're a bard, cleric, blackguard, or assassin, Undetectable Alignment is a good low level spell. It has a 24 hour duration so time wouldn't be an issue. However, if your companions have spellcraft, they might recognize it when you're casting it in the morning, so you might need a cover story. "It keeps alignment activated glyphs from exploding under me" would be a good explanation. (And it's true and a worthwhile consideration in many dungeon crawls too). Alternatively, you could set your casting time to midnight and make sure that you're on watch with someone who doesn't have spellcraft.

Alternatively, you could just stay out of the way when your party detects evil. Clerics have to cast it, so unless there's a paladin in the party, it shouldn't be too hard to stay out of the way of the cone. Especially if your dragon (is he small or big) is somewhat hyper and is always flitting about.

Right ok some background would be helpful. We are playing in the OA adventure (but most books are acceptable) and I am currently a 10th Ranger/2nd Deepwood Sniper/1st Fighter, I have a cohort that is a 7th level Wu Jen/5th Master Alchemist. There are two people in the group that have Detect Evil at Will, one being a VERY righteous Paladin who Detects Evil all the time. I would prefer something that lasts at least 24 hours a day (along the lines of Non-Detection) but something that is also kind of cheap. I have approx 40K in Gp that I can spend, and was wondering besides getting an Amulet of Non-Detection, what else I can use. We can pretty much use any book out there, but for the life of me I can not find anything or have not looked in the right book. I do not have to worry about myself (demon Armor masks my Alignment) and my cohort has an Amulet of Non-Dection on himself (stolen from the thief who does not ralize it as of yet) but I need something for my polymorphed Pyro Dragon to mask his alignment.

Again, tia.

An item that casts undetectable alignment once per day would work fine. Of course, I'm assuming that the paladin doesn't have a lot of spellcraft, so if he;s angling for a prestige class that requires spellcrft, you'll probably want to get something else instead.

I'm not sure what the Wujen list contains, and I'm too lazy to look it up (book is in the basement), but I imagine there's probably some stuff your cohort could cast that would help.

If you or your cohort is willing to invest a level in bard, a Wand of Undetectable Alignment is for you! Only 750 gp market value for all 50 charges. Any time you get hit with an area Dispel, wave that wand around again when you're unobserved. It takes 1 bard level to use one, or 2 bard levels and the Craft Wand feat to make your own (you can make the command words the Celestial words for "Mage Armor" or something).

There's nothing you can do to deter a group that is determined to detect evil on you. The best way to keep your allies from discovering you is to use passive defenses like Undetectable Alignment or Non-detection to prevent accidental detection, then act in such a way that the PC's have no reason to be checking on you. If your dragon is seen rampaging and generally going all Troggdor on the local peasantry, your fellow cleric and/or paladin probably wouldn't even waste an action detecting evil!

Play it sneaky, and furthermore try to keep your party convinced you're being sneaky on THEIR behalf! Be a GOOD little Wormtongue until it becomes time to stick the knife in!
