Can anyone do better than:

Pal 8 / Cav 2 / Fist of Raz. 10,

Feats:

Power Attack, Mounted Combat, Servant of the Heavens, Divine Might, Ride-by-Attack, Spirited Charge, Weapon Focus-Lance, Extra Smiting?

Riding a Griffin, of course.

I'm looking for smack-level high-end builds. I keep trying to work fighter stuff in here too, I think it may be worth while to take one fighter level to get one of the fighter feats (mounted combat, et al.) taken care of so that a second Extra Smiting comes in. But other than that, I'm not sure how to improve the build.

I don't know if you can use it, but my arena paladin just leveled up again and is quite a decent build if I do say so. Or at least, he has proven pretty effective so far.

It's probably not all useable, and may even have some flaws, but it's a fun start to draw ideas from. :)

You might be able to fit some Cavalier in there somewhere, I don't know much about the class.

Cavalier allows for *5 damage with a mounted lance charge 5 times per day, attack bonus with the lance, ride bonuses, and the ability to full attack even when your mount moves. --oh, and it stacks with paladin for special mount abilities. :)

If you're using Unearthed Arcana, try a Human Paragon 3/Cleric 4/Prestige Paladin 3/Fist of Raziel 10. BAB +18, casts spells as a 17th-level cleric, and you get a +2 to any ability score (Charisma would probably be best) and a bonus feat from your Human Paragon levels. Take Practised Spellcaster from Complete Divine to cast spells as a 20th-level caster, and Divine Spell Power from the same book to get a chance to boost it even higher by spending a use of Turn Undead. This is the build that best balances clerical spellcasting and melee capability that I can come up with using WotC material.
 


Yes, FireLance's build is pretty good. And I take it that Clerics are still enough "Wizards in Plate" to make it worthwhile. Although they took Finger of Death away...

Just note that to get to CL17, you should begin with one cleric level. You'll get +2 CL with human paragon only if you were member of a spellcasting class prior to your entry in that paragon class. If you start with HPar, yo uloose those 2 caster levels...

Actually, to max out this build, start with one level of Human Paragon to get more skill points at first level (Human Paragon HD is also d8, so you don't lose out there), and add one level of Cleric next. Thereafter, any level of Human Paragon or Cleric will add to your spellcaster level.
