High Level Plot Ideas?

Does anyone has a good idea for a high/epic level campaign?

Not the ordinary -evil god- or -steal the rod of orcus- stuff.

Is there a really cool plot for high level characters around?

Thanks for help.

Tons. You can just about make them up.

1) Astrologers and seers find out that the world is about to: Collide with another world/star/asteroid/etc. Intersect a plane of madness/darkness/pure evil/etc. The heros have to stop it, or all is lost!

2) An ancient lich or other immortal terror has been free upon the land! The PC's must find it and destroy it! The twist is that the Evil One has assumed the likeness of the world's most power empire, and is even now preparing its plans for conquest! Simply defeating the thing won't be enough, they must expose it for what it is, or risk a war that will engulf all the world and lay waste to the land!

3) People around the world are starting to change into terrible monsters and attack unchanged folk! The PC's must fight hordes of powerful nasties, gather the survivors in a safe, or at least fortified location, then find out why and how this happened...and stop it.

4) The PC's have been chosen by a pantheon of new gods to help them create a new world. The major work's done, all they need is some help exterminating some of the previous inhabitants (hideous monsters from Before Time and such), and some leaders to help the new fledged races find their way. Of course...the bad gods invited some people over to help out too...

A previously (relatively) unkown Lich with a penchant for not bothering people or doing anything overtly evil has apparently with no provocation raised an army of undead and is marching towards a significant city. The PCs have an early run-in with the Lich, and if they don't do anything stupid (and maybe beg for their lives) the Lich will explain what's got him so riled up. Something very valuable has been stolen from him- not his phylactery or a powerful artifact- but a momento of his deceased mother (perhaps a locket with a lock of hair inside). The thief in question, unfortunately, is a well-respected and near-epic level Paladin. The Lich will promise to withdraw his armies for a set amount of time, in which the PCs must recover the momento or he will resume hostilities until he locates the Paladin and takes back the precious reminder.

In my opinion, this sort of campaign would work well in the Eberron setting, since the gods don't revoke the powers of folowers who are of an opposing alignment.

The Paladin might, of course, not be the thief, but have innocently purchased it. A complication could be that another, incredibly evil, something-or-other has got wind of this and plans to steal the locket themselves to use the hair within to control the lich.

Brilliant! Perhaps a Balor, or a minor Demon Lord. After all, the Lich would go to any ends to get the momento back, even if that ment being a demon's tool of destruction and conquest. The PCs might have to journey into the depths of the Abyss itself to get the momento back and stop the madness!

Atlas the God that holds up the world has contracted a mystical wasting disease. Every time Atlas coughs or sneezes the world experiences earthquakes. The size and the intensity of the quakes are increasing as the disease takes hold. Eventually Atlas will lose his strength and the world will be dropped from the heavens if he can not be cured. A cure can be crafted but it will require difficult and rare ingredients. The ingredients are a pearl from a giant rainbow clam, the hair of the most beautiful mortal woman in the world, and the flame of anger. The clams live only in the very deepest depths of the oceans and filter out all of the waste of the oceans, such as armies lost to Poseidon and strange sharks and men of war. The most beautiful mortal woman in the world current the queen of a large city state and a sorceress of great renown and is quite vain. She will only relinquish her hair if an item of equal beauty will sit on her head. The only crown that is fitting sits trapped in the ice sheets that surround the known world guarded by terrible frost creatures. The final item is the flame of anger. The flame was created during the battle between the gods and the titans. The flame currently sits in the bottom of a volcano; technically it is the source of the volcano and will require great magics to move.
