Rel said:Gary, just so's you're not worried or anything, I've got our first meeting all planned out. I'm just going to hover nearby until I can tell you're getting a tad worn down by the war stories. Then I'll give you a nod and say, "Let's blow this popstand and go grap a couple Bombay Saphire Martinis with blue-cheese stuffed olives."
Heh, Rel!
Hovering is indeed the term to use for many shy fans. I just wave them in and assure them I won't bite. Now lurking is different. Those who do that are the dreaded ones, for I know that they want at least an hour of my undivided attention so as to regale me with the marvels of their PC's performance or the horrors of that of their GM or fellow players. Worse still, expounding on what I could have done better in writing the RPG they play, or details of their own "new" system.
Then, when I've got a couple drinks in you, you'll be much more receptive to my own repetitive and boring war-stories.[/QUOTE
Quite so! Fact is that some of the gaming tales are amusing, and the parameters for attaining that merit broaden considerably with each Bombay Sapphire martini![]()
Drop by one of the North Carolina Game Days and you'll even get a chance to meet Henry. He's less boring than me but he doesn't drink martinis. Nobody's perfect I guess.![]()
While it isn't too likely, it so happens that my friend Joe Martin, the world's most prolific cartoonist according to the Guiness Book of Records, has a place on the North Carolina coast. He's there now, and we are invited to visit the Martin's whenever they are there. How close are the NCGDs to Cape Fear?
Cheerio,
Gary
