Hit points alternative, please comment.

I can't find the vp/wp on the starwars rpg sight.

I've reconsidered removing Con (not as a for modifier) as a stat, as it can gadge (sp?) the personal toughness. Also pidgeon holling races with a set hd might not be good idea, also those were examples with the elves and dwarves.

A decent summary of applying wp/vp system to the DnD setting.

One modification we play with in SW:d20 is to use the living force rules regarding a set number of vitality pts per level - your die max -2 (d8 = 6, etc.) so that there is no vitality pt rolling every level. A d6 VP die with an 18 con means 8 vp per level, period.

We haven't had any duplication of actual vitality pts yet, oddly enough.

I'm glad you reconsidered removing Con Mod and implementing racial hit die - those looked rather extreme.

If you really want a deadly experience, consult the "Grim 'n Gritty" rules available for d20 - I've been looking at them pretty hard lately. If it wasn't for my killer GM (railroader/gm vs player type), I'd poll the group on implementing them. They actually have a 'wounds' penalty to your attack/skill rolls depending on how much damage you've taken - which is about the only thing the vp/wp system is missing in my opinion (well, that, and the annoying issue of hitting a BBEG repeatedly and not actually hitting him)

Lemme know here if you have any questions wrt wp/vp - I've been using it in SW for a while, and DND for a fair amount of time.

I might add the first level of vitality, to wound when I use these rules (which in my honest opinion they friggin rule, yes I wrote that out, thats how much I like them). Also I might interchange some of the stat abilities that addto vitality, like dex for rogues and wisdom for monks. Maybe.
