Today, from SciFi Wire:

Apparently, they've got a screenwriter and director to move forward with Douglas Adams' own screen adaptation of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. This could be good. This could be bad.

Jay Roach (the director) has actually been attached to this project since before Douglas died. If memory serves, he was Douglas' personal choice for the job and the two of them spent quite a bit of time together working on the project.

It's the hiring of a scriptwriter for the project that worries me...

I thought Douglas scripted it himself...

Yes, Douglas wrote his own version of the script. However, the hiring of a writer should not worry anyone. Move scripts always see re-writes. Just in this case, they have to hire someone new, because the original author isn't around to do it.

Okay, so, what's scarier - they hire another writer, or they make with the big mojo and bring up a big rotting Douglas Adams Zombie to do the rewrite? :)

To be honest, I'd have more faith in the big rotting Douglas Adams Zombie... ;)

You know he might even be funnier as a big, rotting zombie. I'd image Mr. Adams would find the britishly comical aspect of it. Probably write it into Act 3 somewhere, too. ;P
