Uhmmm...

I'm the primary writer.

It includes material that we (Denise and I) originally worked on for our Theurgy supplement for Vampire: Dark Ages. It covers the stone beasts from many angles.

Gargoyles are thought by some to be stone sculptures that have been invested with the souls of sinners who were not so vile as to be damned straight to hell. These gargoyles watch the churches and slowly work off the burgen of sin so they may one day ascend. One chapter details this and explains the machanics, including the Item Creation feat used to craft these defenders.

We are also covering gargoyles from the concept of sentient and independent earth elementals, as a winged variety of troll (as the ones from Discworld), and as actual lesser infernal beasts.

Plus we'll touch on other forms of gargoyle-type constructs such as winged Caryatid Columns, living statues, and such.

Also includes racial classes (as the classes from Savage Species) for these variant gargoyle races, some prestige classes, and a prestige class for the theurgists for the primary chapter (as well as details on a cult that does the theurgist ritual on good souls also, in order to torture them in stone).

Ambient does (did) far better 'vile darkness' than the BoVD. And all without resorting to the often-childish 'gross outs' of the latter work.

In fact, one might even say that Ambient evil is darn good. :D0

Arwink, what about FFG's public relations irk's you?

It's a typo. It should read FFE, where every time I turn around Jim Ward seems to be abusing someone or failing to take responsibility for his companies mistakes.

FFG has done a lot of stuff I quite like, actually.

Mind you, the poll does list the company as Fast Forward Games rather than Fast Forward Entertainment, so you can see where the mistake was made.

On an un-related topic: Come easter, I've been playing DnD for twenty years. It's a frightening though, and I just thought I'd share.

It occurred to me today that I actually own more FFE material (1 book) than FFG (nothing). I shall have to correct this state of affairs at some point :)

As for my opinions about FFE ... they conduct their business - all aspects of it - in a very amateurish way, IMO. Badly edited books, a deliberate indifference to the OGL ("it's too hard" - then get out of the OGL business, idiot), continued refusal to accept criticism of any kind. It's no surprise to me that they were the first 'major' company to receive a public spanking from WotC.
