Well, there are a couple things.
The New York Metropolitans have a 25-man roster with an average age of about 33-34, which is the oldest among the 31 major league teams.

The first baseman of the future is playing at another position that is physically demanding. To extend his effective playing career, many people feel that a switch to a much less demanding position—first base—is due.

My favorite team is a division rival of the Mets, so bashing them is always fun. One of my former co-workers is a Mets fan, so he would have been the intended audience.
