Actually, a good friend of mine was working on his phd in the classics and was very cool and not full of himself at all. He was really the one I credit for getting me back into D&D during the second edition drought.

My current...not girlfriend is a Classicist also. She's getting her PhD at UC Santa Barbara. She's great, and many of her friends are as well. I think the younger students of the discipline are wonderful, but some of the proffessors I have met...Egos that could block out Richard Gere.

Ya, I can understand that. I took some classes in the classics department since my friend was a student teacher there (oddly enough I got A's in those classes :D) There was only one proffessor you could actually hold a conversation with and he went drinking with us on the weekends. Very grounded individual that went into classics so he could "BS his way to a tenure"

Never wanted to be a professor, but I have wished that I could afford to be a college student forever. :)

Tom Lehrer, brilliant man. Was an undergraduate for like 35 years, refused to take the one class he needed.
