Yep, that is the main problem.

Get a macintosh. MacOS uses a Unix base these days, and Linux was originally a clone of Unix. MacOS is great if you're looking to program.

Hmmm, the problem is that I still need compatibility. In fact, I do most of my works in Sun UNIX machines, but I still need to be able to use standard Windows programs, so W2000 is the best option for now. And Macs are expensive, at least over here.
