Hiya Clay!
I'm making a PC with kids. How's that for interesting? (I never saw a PC who had children before.)
What are you up to? How are you?
i once played in a game wiht a father son team. dad was a retired 5th lvl fighter, and when he saw his son taking on evil he cam out of retirement and joined the party. he had some negatives for his age, but he was a kick but guy before them. it was a great scenario, and one that worked because of the guy playing it.
one guy in my tuesday night game is playing a woman with a child....his background follows-
Background: Growing in the small settlement of druids, rangers, and nature clerics. We make our home in a grove of oak trees that surrounds a bubbling brook that flows through the middle of the grove.
Most of my time a child and adolescence was spent being taught by the elders and others on the lore of our grove. This included how to care for animals and what plants grew near and around our grove.
As I grew and mastered the lessons my teachers taught me, they also expanded my tattoos. I also knew, as did most of the girls who lived in the grove that each year one of us would be picked to serve as a vessel at the festival that would bring the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Every year a maiden is dressed up in the hides of fawns and then marked with many different designs of ink and mud and sent out in the forest as game to be chased by the stag. The stag would be a male of the grove who is also dressed in the hides of a buck and a set of antlers. When the buck catches the fawn, they always mate and this shows that spring has arrived and it is a time of celebration. However, all the children who are born from this ritual know they are not any more special then those who are not born from this.
This year it was my turn to play the fawn and after I had birthed my child to help with the growth of the grove, we were set upon by a small group of thieves who stole our sacred scythe that is used to harvest the mistletoe and other herbs that we use for healing, rituals, and other effects. All children from this ritual are also raised by the mother’s family, The men’s family has no say in the matter. The women who have given birth by this ritual, do not have to marry the men and after another year may decide to marry some one else or decide never to marry again. My child’s name is Nembria.
I also live with my parents and my younger sister, Yulhyra. She is ten years younger then me. My mother’s name is Mymethra and my father’s name is Ylgral. Mother is part of the council of elders who help set the laws and rules of the grove. Father spends most of his time teaching how to use weapons to those who want to learn from him. I have heard from time to time, that he left this grove when he was younger to explore the lands outside of the grove, and when he returned, he had the skills of a ranger. Since then he has taught others of the grove those skills and also how to use different weapons.
Ryssa was given to me as a cub and trained by me to be my animal companion. She is a gray wolf, with many different shades of that color.
I have left home after being asked, well commanded actually, to hunt down those three who have taken our sacred scythe and return it to the grove when I can, if I ever find it also.
