You could have an stubborn grandfather, the mother's father who is a little senile in his old age get her trained and a bow without mentioning it to anyone.

Interesting idea, yeah, that could work...

So I have 191 gold left to spend.

Here's a question: how much do you think her wedding ring costs?

Hey Tallarn. I'm back. Buying stuff for Thana still.

Grandparents have a tendincy to do what they want especially if they feel the parents are failing the kid in some way.

Which is interesting in a way. Because Thana's mother is fairly adamant that Thana is not taking proper care of her kids. In her mind, it's unseemly to leave your kids in the care of a nanny while you go off killing for money. But it's the only thing Thana really knows how to do -- so she keeps doing it.

I need to sort out a family tree of some kind too :)

Probably 192 gp :D

Cool, Tallarn. We'll run with this character as long as you like, but we probably need to work out some way to keep a character long term. I fall in to the trap of wanting to change characters quite often, but for a long-running campaign it can have a detrimental effect overall on the game.

Shouldn't the ring come out of someone else's pocket?

Well, yeah. But the way I see it, 4,500 gold doesn't mean she has all that money of her own, it's the amount of stuff she owns, in value. It includes her house, a magic ring she has no idea the worth of (would cost twice what her house did), all her weapons and armour and travelling gear... etc etc etc. It also would include things she owns that were gifts. (I would imagine that to include most of her weapons and armour, actually. It's all very good quality stuff, which she would likely have a hard time affording.)

That's the only way that I can justify Thana seeing herself as essentially not very well off, even though she has valuable belongings she could likely sell. Most of those belongings have some kind of sentimental value (like her wedding ring, her bow, etc).

Thanks for being understanding about it. Maybe as I get more powers I'll try and concentrate less on the self-buffs and more on some other ones. BTW - there was no second copy of StarCraft, sorry.

Lucy - don't forget to turn up for the game tonight! :D Wouldn't want you to get so carried away that you forgot, would we?
