Unattainable Ideal
Carnifex: Weekend turned into BusyFest 2003 so I didn't get to your SH, apologies. On the other hand, I didn't get to my own, either. 
And we start shooting on Saturday! Yikes!
Over the weekend (I'm just telling you this cause it's SOOOO cool) we built the coolest thing in the world.
Seriously, I think that's what we'll call it. "Hey, somebody grab The Coolest Thing In The World, willya?"
It's a wee little $10 skateboard we bought at WalMart. We used a router to carve grooves in each of the wheels. We attached a couple of pieces of plywood and some bits of copper tubing to the top of it.
Here's the cool bit (in case that description didn't make your eyes pop out of your head): You turn it upside down and hang it (using the grooves in the wheels) from a pair of cables that are held up by a couple of stout lads. You attach your little digital video camera to it with the copper tubing. You turn on the camera and roll the skateboard along the cables and voila (French word meaning voila) -- smooth tracking shots!
Dunno if you can grok the coolness factor of this thingummy from my wacko descriptions, but trust me, if you see it, you'll be, "That's the coolest thing in the world!"
