DBZ the anime to draw them in or push them away.

That's my oh so perceptive analysis. Many kids I know are first introduced to anime lately by Pokemon (Yuh-Gi-Oh now) or DBZ. I tend to get two reactions from the latter. Some love it, thinking that the story of this family of Saiyans and their friends saving thw world the universe and everything else is the greatest thing on television. The other half think that the fight scenes are overcooked bad aggs, whose drama is in the heavy breathing between energy blasts. Oh, that and certain fight scenes have actually lasted more than 2 episodes, without interuption.

I personally don't have an opinion. I don't find anything in DBZ particularly upsetting, nor do I find it all that interesting. I have watched a fair amount of it, becuase I wanted to give it a shot. It does grow on you to some extent, but it would never be a show I would go out of my way to watch.

It's not that I have an issue directly with the show. It's I have a 4 and 7 year old whom sometimes watch it. I don't tell them what to watch but when this show is on I try harder to give other options for them.

The show justs seems like an animated version of WWE without the respect for the athletics involved.

By the way- never ment to insult you and as you did mention, I may be ignorant to it's fullest content. I only saw a few episodes.

Yay! i finished my essay! Now all i have left to do is review french vocab. Les descriptions du corps et des minerels! Oui, c'est chouette, ca!

Hmm, interesting way of doing it. When I have children, and when they're at those critical years, I will be telling them what to watch; all the better to try and not let them be exposed to elements I'd find undesireable. The early years are when parents are expected to put limiters on children to help development.

Now how can that be true when the WWE itself has no respect? ;)

Seriously though, I'm not sure what you mean by the above statement. You're upset that the characters don't say "Hey kids, exercise!" every so often? Assuming you know where the show is coming from, it seems to send a rather strong message of strong exercise and hard work to earn those initial powers.

Thanks UnDfind. I think were I to go further with it (which I do hope to do) I would be using the d20 Modern rules. I'd like to make it compatible with Spycraft, but I don't see that happening.

Now, I'm feeling like i need to spend a day doing nothing but 2028 work. AFTER I finish up with out articles. :)

As to DBZ, its not there is not an epic feel to it. There is most certainly a real sense of urgency to their actions. What does bothe me is that death is irrelevent. When characters die, their deaths should mean more than being allowed out every once in awhile to fight the most recent BBEG. If it had been just Goku, I might have accepted it. When it became Wolf boy (never remember his name, and I could be wrong about him coming back) and then Vegeta, it bothered me. Mind you, I missed when Vegeta died, I just saw him with a little halo last time I watched.

I'll stick to Tenchi. :D Oh, and nowadays, Lupin the 3rd. Talk about Epics! (j/k)

Hey Sword, speaking of French, have you seen the Confrontation miniatures line?

www.rackham.fr

Some cool stuff, and the game rules are free.

The only thing in english on the whole site is the english version of the rules...so it kinda sucks for the non-speakers. It even seems to evade the Google translator :(
