That's why I'm doing the three setting style descriptions first, then I can go back and do the first bit of the chapter once I have gotten a better feel for it. Since the crunchy engine and maintenance bits have now all been shifted to chapter 2 instead, it means I have the entire chapter to basically write fluff and description.

The only thing I'm worried about so far is the size of the pdf. Not that it'll be too large, but rather that it'll be too small. Consdiering the size of the setting style description for steampunk I can see the entirety of chapter 2 at least being quite short... Still, I'll have to see how things go.

It's basically just a casual thread where people can come and chill, hang out and chat. Sometimes we talk about game-related stuff, but more often its either just random chatter There's a far better summary of what the Hivemind is about but I don't ahev a link handy to Tallarn's web page...

not really. the Hive does have rules it has to follow...off-topic threads may still get closed or moved elsewhere (often to Meta)

You could indeed wander in to say snergleflax if you so wished

However there are important rules about Hivemind threads, and you cannot just start a new Hivemind thread when you feel like it. You can start [OT] threads, sure, but:

There is only 1 [Hivemind] thread active at any one time. A Hivemind thread is allowed to reach up to 400 replies before a new one must be started and the old one allowed to drop off the page. Usually mods move in pretty quickly to lock an old Hivemind thread.
