There probably aren't too many with those, but even on a 56k, that's almost 4 seconds per page. Much as I'd enjoy the menu bar, that's a big jump for those that aren't on broadband yet. I don't know how good an idea it is.

You should be able to start reading before the script finishes loading, so I honestly don't think too many folk will notice, even at 28.8 (beyond noticing the normal speed loss)

I'm on modem with an estimated 27 for speed due to the fact the telephone wires are from the early sixties.

Hoping to upgrad the computer shortly but the phone lines will remain a curse for me.

Baud is bits per second right?? Or is it *BYTES* per second?? I calculated the D/L time thinking it was bits - if that isn't the cast my download estimate is off by a factor of 8.
