The issue was the lack of depth, by blurring or desaturating the color it adds focus to the central characters.. however the lack of color makes the cover less vibrant.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the vibrancy. Personally, I like the combination of muted backgrounds with bright foregrounds. The greens & purples stand out much better that way, imho.

Ugh anyone else bothered by that Bastion Press banner ad on this page? I see that guy with the horns and it makes me think of that stupid demon in that god aweful movie with Tom Cruise, Legends.
