Hobby/Game Stores in Malls...

I don't know if it's a 'Mall' per se but here in Aus we have Ace Comics and Games in the CBD of Brisbane. It's not in a shopping center, just one of the shops down the walking only areas.

100% of all gaming stores I know are in malls. That is 2, in the entire lower North Island, both in Wellington (AFAIK there are no more than 5 in the entire country:(). Not local for me either, 1.5 hours drive plus finding parking. An independent one and a Games Workshop one.

They were very common on the east coast too, BITD. Legends is still in the Vallco mall in Cupertino (South Bay), but that's the only one I know of, offhand (the GW store in the Cherry Hill, NJ, mall closed up, apparently---or at least it's not listed on their site).
Granite Run Mall in Media, PA has Showcase Comics which is effectively a game store. It has been a long time since I have been there (it's about twice my "drop by" distance), but it apparently is still there.

There is also a GW store in the Franklin Mills Mall in NE Philly. I have never gone in, but I know it is there. It looks a bit crowded with a small space and lots of stuff (that's from the front, though, it might be bigger inside).

Play the Game, Read the Story is a legitimate comics and games store in the Carousel Center mall in Syracuse, NY. It's pretty good. Somewhat narrow RPG selection, but lots of dice/bags/miniatures/accessories, and a good open-play aera.

There's no shame in attending the Mall of America. It has the aforementioned Games By James, as well as an excellent Lego store and, well, all those rollercoasters and rides.

(Games By James is great, but given the current economy, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that while there were recently 10 Games By James stores, there are now only 7: http://www.gamesbyjames.com/about.htm)

And that's even outdated, unfortunately. There is exactly ONE Games by James still open, and that's the new "Competition Center" by Cub Foods at Hwy 10 and Hanson in Coon Rapids. The Twin Cities has a load of PG-freindly game stores though, just not in any malls, in part due to generally high overhead, and in part due to shifting shopping center habits (mall plazas are all the rage now).

In Woodbridge Center Mall, Woodbridge, NJ there is The Game Room. It sells billiards tables and accessories, arcade cabinets, darts and accessories, traditional board games, Euro-board games, Warhammer, and since at least 1983, role-playing games. They usually stock stuff beyond WotC and White Wolf but last time I was there the RPG section had been cut in half from it's 6 book cases to 3 book cases and that was probably a year ago. I don't get to the mall much any more.
