HOL -- Does anybody play it?

I see Warehouse 23 has a second edition of Human Occupied Landfill for sale -- does anyone play it? I remember the game from back in high school, when we had great fun generating characters (I still have a place in my heart for Cap'N Christ, son of God and cereal mascot) but we never tried to actually, you know, play it.

It's a hilarious game, but it's not actually meant to be played. I used to be good friends with Dan Thron, the artist, and he loved the fact that folks actually played the thing. :D

Great read... I think I'll need to dig it out of storage now. Never played it or even wanted to make the attempt... nothing could come close to the possibilities I imagined in my head ;)

Great for laughs, though some parts have text that is painfull on the eyes.

Freak Legion: A player's Guide to Fomori, though not stand alone, is a blast and likly more playable, you'll need a werewolf rulebook though

I loved HOL...and I even have Buttery Wholesomeness...but I have never played it.

I am dreading the day when my kids climb up to my top shelf books....explaining that game is going to be interesting.

Oh, we've played it loads of times. It usually goes like this....

Player: Hey, let's play HOL!
GM: Sure! Got a character all made? Good. You're dead.

Player: Hey, that's was too short!
GM: Okay. So, you're standing outside a Church'N'Munch. You just got confession, a packet of Pope-Tarts, and a new titanium spankh. A little kid with a *huge* friggin' gun shoots you, and steals your Pope Tarts. You're dead.

Player: ...

It's worse than Paranoia :D

I never played it. but I always wanted to. I've never even met anyone who's played it. I think the lack of character creation rules in the main book kinda help that situation. (not that I don't think thats an awesome and totally hilarious idea).

My favorite rule was the Pain Scale. Wasn't a 14 something like "getting your testicles caught in the gears of a ferris wheel"?

My fave was 20 - unprotected reentry in the atmosphere :D

However, yes, I've run this game. Every now and then, in the middle oth the night, when all the sane gamers are asleep, a few mad gamers join me for a game of HoL!!!
