Hey there, friend! Are you a gamer, or do you know someone who IS? They're hard to shop for when birthdays or holidays roll around, aren't they? Shut up, yes they are. I said shut up.

Well, all that's changed! Now, there two GREAT holiday gift ideas for gamers from your good friend Doc Midnight! Crap on a stick, check this out:

Gift 1: oh-so-humorous GAMER T-SHIRTS

Shirts and mugs, stickers and hats, etc. Buy one for your gamin' spouse or buddy. They'll love you forever, or failing that, say "thanks" and only wear it whenever you come over.

Gift 2: a PORTRAIT of that special someone's RPG CHARACTER!

The above picture was drawn on commission from a husband for his wife for a gift. Wouldn't your husband/wife/friend/high school principal LOVE a portrait of their character this holiday season? YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT THEY WOULD! I have many styles and price ranges to choose from, so come see what I can do:

Then take a look at what I can do for you:

If none of the above moves you, I'd just like to point out that I'm currently unemployed and need your business to keep the heat on in the long, cold winter months, so the violin music doesn't start playing while I'm wrapped in a tattered blanket begging people on the street for handouts.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND GIVE ME MONEY!

I just had to add that I am the wife who received the character portrait, and I was psyched when I saw the picture! It's a very cool gift to receive...your pc immortalized by Doc Midnight...WOOT! :D

I like it so much, I put her image in my banner, as presented below...

Rock on, Doc!!

good stuff doc 12! i like what you do, first time i saw the shirt it was on jester and i loved it :)

now, how to get him to trade bunches of bumperstickers for a shirt.......????

I would like to say that I "think" my character Uyag Gnarlfist was the first D&D character immortalized by ol' Doc here.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Tom

and by the way.... Why the HECK are you not working on many of the d20 projects out there? Your artwork is FAR SUPERIOR to most of the stuff in the majority of the supplements I've seen (with the exception of some of the WoC stuff, which I believe are of equal quality).

Some of the crap I've seen resembles highschool doodles on some gothgrrrl's notebook.

SUBMIT YOUR ARTWORK, MAN!!!

Not to jump the gun on Tom but he's done some artwork for several companies including several pieces for Kenzer's Monster Hacklopedias and coloring credits on several of the D&D covers.

If I were to guess why he doesn't do more it's because most companies don't pay artists diddlysquat. I know for a fact the art money companies set aside just isn't a big priority.

But yeah, I would love to see Tom do some illustrations for other companies... As long as he's getting paid to do it. ;)

No, I think you're right... I broke my maraschino on Uyag Gnarlfist. Here he is: http://www.dr-midnight.com/tomart/images/uyag.jpg
I still love them boots.

Hey, thanks. Sweetie. Talon's got the right of it- game companies really don't pay much. In fact, what might take me five hours to complete will usually pay maybe a sixth of what I could make full-time at a graphic design job. Plus- ahem- I'm not so great at backgrounds, which most companies want. I try to avoid them when I can. So, the result is that I enjoy doing private commissions, wherein I can gouge the poor schmuck consumer for all they're worth.

I know for a fact the art money companies set aside just isn't a big priority.
Yep. Usually, the art you can buy for that price just isn't worth it. I mean... look at [game product name withheld]. Great system, but the art inside (with a few exceptions) is just inex-freakin-scusable.

I realized not long ago that I went into the wrong field for making money.
