Dire Wolf

Well, I just sent in my application on Wednesday and I heard back from WotC on Thursday. I am personally excited about this program. I am currently an MIB for Steve Jackson Games, so I have a little experience with this sort of thing. I visit retail stores montly and run demos both at stores and conventions for them. It is great! I love it! I enjoy playing games, I enjoy teaching games and to get free games as a reward for doing something I like is just fantastic for me.
Honestly, I visit 3 - 5 gaming stores a month as it is already, so now when I go there I will spend a few extra minutes speaking with the manager/owner chatting about gaming. Then I will answer 6 questions in an email and send it in. Sounds OK to me. And just for doing this I get cases of new miniatures, new board games, and boxes of CCG cards. Pretty cool if you ask me.
I know with the stores I liason for SJ Games, the owner knows who I am and always gives me a discount, another great perk.
Will I love every game that I demo for WotC? Probably not, but that doesn't mean that I can't have fun spending a Saturday afternoon teaching a game to some kids. If it means that I can earn a case of D&D or Star Wars miniatures or a box of MTG boosters that is great. I would like to see D&D books added to the rewards, that I will admit.
When I saw that the delegate program was going to offer all this stuff to start off I was thrilled. SJ Games gave me nothing to start. I had to earn 5 points before I even got a tshirt. The way WotC has set this up, it really seems like a winner to me. And the application will seperate those who truly are interested in the program and those who aren't.
So all in all I am happy to have a chance to support the gaming hobby in a way that allows me to meet more gamers, broadens my gaming horizons, and earns me some cool rewards. I will get out of it what I put in to it, but based on the fun times I have had running demos for SJ Games, I will reap a lot of rewards.
