Holy crap this is cool! (terrain/building stuff)

I went by the local hobby shop today and was looking at some stuff that I'd never really noticed before. It was THIS building set for use with miniature games. I paid more than you see at the link ($20) for the larger Hexagon set but it is still turning out to be some of the best money I've ever spent on a roleplaying product.

The kinds of stuff I can see myself building with this set is almost endless. Towers, bridges, scaffolding, even small houses or tents would be good uses for it. It is a bit "modernish" looking but most of the pieces have a more featureless side that doesn't have any of the "circuit board" look to it. I'm seriously considering ordering another box or possibly getting the Platforms set.

If anybody out there has both, could you let me know if the pieces are compatible between sets.

I cant tell you if they are compatible, however a little searching online came up with the original Russian companies website. On it you can open up pages that show the actual sprues that come in the boxes. Maybe by looking you can tell us if they look to be compatible.

These definitely look to be great for Sci-Fi miniatures. If only we had these while we were into Necromunda I might still be into Games Workshop.

edit: I found a review online that you might like to see as well... http://forums.classicbattletech.com/index.php/topic,12489.0.html

Not bad but if i might ask where did you get ripped off?

I got them at a local game store. The guy who runs the place always seems to overprice things just a bit but the selection is good and I go there when I need something quickly.

As to the matter of them looking "futuristic", I can't help but agree. But I'm running an Eberron campaign right now and I think that I can live with the look. If I was going for a more medieval look I would just paint them brown and pretend they were wood.

And when I run my next d20 Modern Sky Galleons of Mars game I can TOTALLY see me crafting a steamship out of these! Woot!

It's really excellent! I love these. Just unfortunate I probably will never find them in France... :(

Could you not order them online? Or does the shipping become a problem then?

Oversea shipping is a pain. Not too much for letters, but packages are damn expensive. Heck, when I ordered books from FFG during the crazy everything-at-$5 sale, shipping was more than half the total cost -- i.e., a $5 dollar book costed me $11 and then some...

Fair enough. Though I would mention that since the box in question contains only about a dozen plastic sprues the weight is fairly light. It would be similar to ordering a fairly small plastic model I would think.

Can you provide a linky?

These are kind of cool, even more so with a miniatures game. I am sort of a low maintenance game so it is not right for me right now. But when we build our house in a few years you bet your sweet baby I will have the game room of all gamerooms, then I may and probably incorporate terrain and 3d "dungeons"
