Honor Herrington D20

Fantastic series. Loved the melodrama which is a hallmark of all the Baen books bestsellers. Getting the feel of the books into a game would be the most difficult. You'd need robust space rules. Something set in the Confederacy as detailed in the later books in the series might work best as a setting. Pirates!

I love the honorverse. MY only complaint has been that it was too self-validating for the Manticorans. What I mean was Manticore==Good everybody else==Bad. But that trend has changed in the latter books, with some fairly intersting and deep Haven characters, as well as corrupt and downright evil Mantcorans.

With respect to Martial arts: Blood and Fists is the way to go. Just build your own martial art for the coup de vitesse (strength based).

For naval combat: depends on what you're looking for. The setting probably deserves an exhaustive ruleset to represent fleet engagements, with almost a wargame attention to detail. But if you don't want to focus that much on the space battles, you could probably use a more Narrator friendly approach (maybe the rules in stormwarck can be extrapolated?).

IIRC, the fighting style was pretty much Krav Maga ... I think they called it the "fast punching" ... coup de vitesse, if my French hasn't left me entirely.

But yea, just krav really.

HH Jayne's Write-up

This may be of some interest. Ad Astra Games is putting the first book in their Jayne's Intelligence Review series starting with the Royal Manticoran Navy:

"This soft cover coffee table book has information on the Royal Manticoran Navy from David Weber's Honor Harrington universe, ranging from the founding and battle histories to detailed class histories and size comparison charts of the ships, to layouts of the pinnaces and rank insignia! Much of this material has never been published elsewhere, and this book is an official concordance of data on the Manticoran Navy, with material written by David Weber himself! With 20 full color pages of interior art!"

Jayne's Intelligence Review: RMN

Just got my copy of Jayne's Intelligence Review for the Royal Manticoran Navy from FRP Games. The 65 page book covers:

-Overview of the Manticoran system
-Organization of the Royal Manticoran Navy (RMN) Admiralty
-RMN Battle Honors
-Starship Tactics
-RMN Officer Corps (overview, rank structure, uniforms & insignia)
-RMN Enlisted Corps (as above)
-RMN Skinsuits
-Fleet Organization
-Ships (1 Super Dread, 1 Dread, 3 Battlecruisers, 4 Heavy CA, 3 Light CA, 4 DD, 1 LAC)
-Royal Manticoran Marines (uniforms, organization, small arms, a pinnance, skinsuits, and Mk 21 Battle Armor)

Lots of color pictures and good illustrations of uniforms, insignia, ships, and gear.
